Seems a bit out of date. The UK is very much coming out of the cotton wool.

Is it?
Every variant is deemed the "worst ever variant" until another one comes along,,,,,,,,, S. Africa, then Brazil, then Kent and now Indian.
If this goes on with the variant paranoia, I suspect that we will never get out of removing every restriction - even though this a virus - that has been around for a long time..
Just like the flu.
I was stood near a young woman on Sunday who kept telling me that she had not been vaccinated and would I move.
She was stood closely with her older family members both of whom weren't wearing masks.
I pointed out to her that she would have more chance of going out of the ground and getting run over by a bus than contracting Covid-19 with how close we were stood near her.
I was looking forward to enlightening her further but she shut up after I said that.

You smooth talker.
Without wanting alert Miro to a thread he'd be interested in, some changes will always be in place from now on. In terms of washing hands and not being quite as close to people you don't know.
I reckon we'll probably end up having vaccine boosters in future too, especially when travelling.
But we need to have businesses open and while we get there I'd rather wear a mask in stores etc. It's not a hardship if it makes people feel more comfortable.

Before the thread is locked. You do know that the figure of 98% (with 83 years being the average age of the 2%) is read by many, well almost certainly our beloved moderator, as “HELP, We are all going to die”.
But seriously, if wearing a mask, a visor, goggles, gloves, hard hat, factor 50, waterproofs, steel toecaps, gumshield, ear defenders plus flippers and a life jacket (should a gust of wind blow us into the river Calder while perilously walking up Doncaster road) plus Jab Vista, (or are we still on jab DOS 1) then it'll all be worth it, especially if it “saves just one life.”
But beware the carnage on our roads as you travel to Belle Vue, I haven't left the house since I saw the following on the trusted BBC.
“According to the World Health Organization, road traffic injuries caused an estimated 1.35 million deaths worldwide in, for example, 2016."
That is, one person is killed every 25 seconds.
Every 25 seconds by Jove, Surely that's worth a worldwide lockdown in anyone's eyes??? Lets face it, “if it saves just one life.”

I saw that too. I hope we can put a show on against Warrington.
It will help with crowds and motivating the stay aways to give it another go.

I supported lockdowns one and two - I'm not an expert but I do feel that it is now getting untenable.
Life is all about risk management and I think we can as far as I can see manage Covid as it stands. Some will still die as the vaccine is not 100% but that is now such a small number that it's on a par with most other health risks.
I'm not into conspiracies either but some things no longer right about this. I feel vested interest has moved in and some people don't want to give up their massive elevation in importance. Not a good mix when combined with the weakest PM since Harold Wilson.

Hmmm....
https://www.gov.uk/government/statistic ... eport-2019
road deaths in GB 2019 = 1,752 (4.8 per day or one every 18,000 seconds)
Remind us how many died due to Covid in 12 months? (despite the extreme measures taken)
case fatality rate in the UK is 2.8%
Assuming everyone travels by road, annual road fatality rate = 0.0025%
i.e. in the UK, covid is 1000 times more deadly than travelling by road
Worldwide annual road fatality rate = 0.018%
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_ ... by_country
worldwide covid deaths 3.7 million that's one every 8.5 seconds.
What would it have been like without the interventions?
You got your bite, have a nice day.
