Plenty to worry about with Boris but it still feels like we dodged a bullet.'"
His magic wand is increased borrowing, potentially landing us in another recession in 5 years time and back to the Tories to sort out the country yet again by having to make necessary cuts. Funny how people talk about NHS and use it as an example, just look at how much the likes of Mid Yorkshire trusts are paying for the site at Pinderfields to a private equity firm based in Guernsey every month due to the failure that was PFI under a Blair Government - If that is not privatisation then what is.... Anyway, well done to the constituency of Wakefield and the many other traditional Labour voting constituency that bucked the trend, feeling very much a part of this country this morning.

| I suppose we could always have kept Pinderfields as it was and not had the redevelopment.
The results are very much a second referendum for me, which is sad because there are far more important issue to address then that. Anyone who thinks this is now Brexit done may he sadly mistaken. I can see this rumbling on for years.
I really dont see a change in how the city will be run either so again anyone who expects a sudden influx of investment because Creagh has gone will be again sadly mistaken.

| Couldn't have put it better HV.
Over and above that, no controlled immigration under Jezza too. I did mention the rate that the population had increased by in the past 20 years. Figures like that just aren't sustainable

Probably mainly a Brexit vote, Corbyn stuttering over Brexit did not help Labour.
I could not bring myself to vote Tory but accept that Labour's policies are not what the voters want.
Time for a big re-think in the Labour party

I guess it will be worse as regards the MDC as the local election are generally used as a protest vote against whichever party is in power nationally.
Regarding Creagh it's 100% the chickens coming home to roost following her total disregard of the original Brexit Referendum result in her constituency.

Yep, real shame that Yvette Cooper didn't go the same way. Hopefully the loss of votes will give her a kick up the behind but I doubt it.

| Having met this odious, smug and self important person Mary Creagh her ousting has given me a smile that's making my face ache (glad to grin and bear it)
A Labour party choice foisted on the Wakefield electorate here to represent herself and the Labour party and not the constintuents, the fact she chose to ignore Wakefields 2/3rds vote in favour of leaving the EU and fight for remain just underlines her contempt for those she deemed beneath her and in her view were wrong. Glad to see the back of her, still grinning by the way.

There is no doubt Boris is a liar but he’s a bad liar and fools no one. We get Boris even if we don’t always agree. Corbyn to a degree and the truly awful momentum group to a massive degree are excellent liars and I find that far more worrying.
The only scary thing about Boris is his mate Dom, a nasty piece of work but one who may have served his use. It will be interesting to see how soon Boris dumps him and becomes his own man. If he doesn’t then I’ll be more worried.

| Corbyn announces he will not lead the Labour party in the next election, the deluded clown didn't lead them in this one, it will be interesting to see who's next up from Clown school my guess is the charmeless Keir Starmer. He may have a few years to wait to try a bit of election leadership though.

| Got to admit Corbyn no better, But think we are going back to the Dickens days , when the average person had to fend for themselves while the rich got richer. The national health, transport, police ext are at a critical stage .There is no mention of this been improved in the Torys manafesto and yet they can spend 54 billion pound on six war planes from America
