Sorry my mistake

As I say every year - there's nothing Magic about it; it's a money-making venture from the RFL, which adds no value and in many instances, creates an unfair opportunity for some teams to pick up extra points. It's not for me - I'm out.

Bren2k dont you think we need all the extra income's we can get be it via the magic weekend or not, Some people have got their heads in the clouds regarding our sport and where it should be But it isn't we are Mainly a M62 sport with the exception of Catalans and London.

Plus i thought we got more national coverage when we were at newcastle for the previous Magic's so it's a YES from me.

Definitely more magic in Newcastle than either Liverpool or Manchester and maybe, staging it up there will help Newcastle's cause in the long run.

Well I'm with you on this. I have never been a fan and really can't see the point of it. I'd rather have our 'home' match at BV.

I don't get your point, what's wrong with making money Bren, it's not like the game is swimming in it. It also an event, something else our game tends to lack.

I understand why some people can't be bothered going but I don't get the negativity, it's a great day out and I don't see how any team gets an advantage tbh.

Finally, it is quite magic, Newcastle is a great place with a great stadium, its a hugely enjoyable and colourfull experience, if you haven't been to Magic at Newcastle give it a go, I reckon you'll change your mind, I did.

Magic Weekend
Newcastle St James Park
Weekend of May 23rd & 24th 2020 (Bank Holiday)

This needs pubilising a hell of alot more; there are so many people unaware of next year's change.

It's a weekend festival of rugby league at a popular venue that we can fully join in. What's not to like? After giving Liverpool a miss, 4 or 5 of us will be sharing the experience once again.
Nicely replaces the away London games too.
The missus is actually suggesting she fancies a trip to Toronto too now! Any one want to take her?

Absolutely the game needs money - but I fell out with the concept when they created the false conceit of 'derby' games - which had the nett effect of handing 2 easy points to certain teams based solely on geography, which skews the overall league table.

With respect to the 'event' aspect - isn't it just a massively undersold football stadium, where people file in and out to see their own team play, then bog off to the pub for the rest of the day? It just does nothing for me as a live spectacle - I don't get it.

Some do but some don't but most stay in the stadium to drink. Yes, it's never totally full but at Newcastle, in particular, its a great atmosphere especially later in the day. Let's be honest, most RL grounds are half-empty most of the time so to me that's no issue.

Basically for me its a bit of fun, something different, a proper day out but I do believe that St James park, in particular, lends itself to the event more than any other with it being smack bang in the heart of the city. Anfield isn't and the whole thing flops, everyone told them it would but they didn't listen, as I say its success is very specific to Newcastle IMHO.

At the end of the day you don't pay for it on your ST so you're not losing out if you don't go, its a choice thing I suppose but I really rate it even if it has some flaws but then what doesn't.
