| Just returned from a few days away in Cardiff, and just the feel around the city reminded me as to how good a location, and weekend Cardiff used to be, or was that just the 50 points we put on Castleford that day
Another good vibrant city in the UK, who enjoy a good time and their sport, is Glasgow. 3 decent sized stadiums, good nightlife and also an underground train station I believe, that i think serve the stadiums
I also think you can get the train direct from Leeds/Wakefield and maybe even Manchester.
Could this be a potentially good location.

Elland Road - Capacity 37,890 (according to Wiki)
I do appreciate it's played at a neutral ground however only three times have we surpassed the 37k mark, imagine a fully packed stadium watching these games rather than seeing 31k (average) sat in a stadium that holds 50k+?'"
No.
Yorkshireman here, lived within 5 miles of Elland Road for over 20 years. Newcastle is by far the best MW venue we have had so far and long should it continue.
In comparison, Elland Road is a shabby old dump with few nearby facilities. I cannot comment on Anfield because I have never been there.

| Anfield may be big but it's no St James Park or Etihad.

In what respect ?
Anfield capacity 54000
St James Park capacity 52500
Etihad capacity 55000
Whichever venue is decided upon, I dont think that "magic" will hit the capacity.
However, I agree that there is more going on around St James Park than Anfield.

| He's just jumping on band wagon! Destination negativity land! Anfield was good enough for a charity match, world club challenge and now a internation against new zealand ! But it is in the wrong part of Liverpool for magic weekend pity its out of the city centre to walk to, no matter what some on here say Liverpool is one of the best and friendliest places for a good day/night out.

| The point of magic weekend was always to try and expand the game, showcasing it to a new viewership, however now it appears more of a money spinner.
Dublin and Glasgow would be good shouts, both have strong rugby union followings though which could work either way- either 'no ruby league is rubbish' or 'oh rugby, yeah go on then'. On this theory (of targeting rugby union areas) you could even look at a bristol/ bath area too, maybe even Wales again.
Manchester or Liverpool would show that the RFL have changed their objective for the magic weekend and reverted to trying to earn some pennies.
FWIW I would like to see it in Dublin because this is a realistic place that could support a rugby league team in super league, with relatively low travel costs etc. Also local enough with cheap flights for many supporters to attend, even if it is expensive to stay (and drink).

| I went to Anfield yesterday. The stadium is fine but the outlying area isn’t. It’s pretty ugly if I’m honest and even on a sunny day it’s not somewhere I’d really like to be. It’s a thumbs down from me.

| Already booked an apartment for the overnight.
Liverpool is a great city to visit and for a night out - and a lot cheaper than Dublin!

| Liverpool is an utter dump, that said it does achieve the almost impossible of making Belle Vue and Agbrigg look habitable. Anfield stadium is fabulous, iconic, modern, beautiful, surrounding area is grim,

If it does turn out to be Liverpool we'll probably stay in Manchester and get the train in both days.'"
I had the same experience - it's almost as if nothing of note has happened there since the Beatles...
