Quote: bellycouldtackle "Injuries should not be used as an excuse. We had 17 fit full time professional players on the pitch against Cas, sadly they were given perhaps the worst ever game plan in the history of the game. Against Warrington we need to be aggressive, we need to fire into them and let them know that we mean business, put some doubt in their players minds about getting through the match unscathed with the semi final coming up next week. We should play simple mistake free Rugby, keep it simple, complete sets, win field position, take the two when on offer, defend like our life depends on it, look for repeat sets. You know the just the sort of thing the players should have been told what to do against Cas.'"

Not actually correct though is it - when your key playmaker, your'e start winger and two of your three biggest players are missing then clearly it makes a huge difference!

Was a stupid gameplan if you could even call it tha didn't help that's for sure - oh well you live and learn.

Added to that, I'm not sure how you know they were all fit before the game Belly.

But equally, if Grix had made that a longer kick, BJB would have beaten the fullback to the ball and everyone would have said we were wonderfully inventive.
Sometimes you have to take a chance. It didn't come off.

Keeping it tight against Warrington only works so far. Our strength is in the attacking speed of our backs. We need to get the ball to them, not stuff it up the jumper safety rugby.

I know we're not just talking about the kick off here but, there was a thread a few weeks ago bemoaning our lack of variety with kick offs.
At Cas, we did try to vary the kick of and IIRC, we managed to retain the ball twice but, equally, sacrificed field position on a number of occasions.
Surely we should be playing the game "properly", kick deep and defend for our lives.
I know that this may look boring but, there is a reason why most sides play this way.
An occasional "off the cull play" is ok but, there has to be some structure in what we are trying to do (for the majority of the game).
The game against Cas was with a massively weakened side and the result wasn't ever in doubt really.
Again, there is a massive difference in say, getting the ball wider early on in the tackle count and playing without structure.

Maybe you're not but that's the problem isn't it, nobody can tell anymore and that's what really makes it boring on here at times.

As mentioned earlier that 1st play kick could have come off and I've no prob with them trying it. What I do have a problem with is then not being capable of defending our line for 6 tackles keeping Cas out.

Considering they have a huge semi final game next week, I was expecting 4/5 of those to be rested.
Usually, you would say hit them with everything we have in the first 20 mins and see if they are really up for it but, we look so small/light in the front row, I'm not sure that this would achieve anything.
I'd be tempted to have Pauli on at the start just to test them but, I'm struggling to see past a Warrington win

Agree with those tactics and I don't think you need a big side to do that. Remember that time we played Cas we went after Gale time after time and in the end he had to go off injured. You don't need to go after every wire player just one or to key ones.

Like they say if they want the 2pts let them pay the butchers bill.

I would expect if one of their key players got hit, they would be substituted dead quick

If Lewis Wray makes his debut and doesn't make 50 breaks, score a couple of tries and send some of the Wire forwards to A and E then sack him off.
