The hooker is for me the most important player on the field.
I think Wood and Finn will do a decent job but you can't recruit half heatedly for that role.

If we really do play Finn, it negates the point Chester was making about getting Williams in, to cover half back and improve competition. If Finn is a starting hooker, we have no competition at half back at all. It's just Williams and Miller. Good as that is, one injury and we are done.

Olbison has just gone to Widnes. I'd have been interested in him for back up in SR

Really don't get what you are on about, Finn played most of his career at Hooker and so has Wood.

Bizarrely I actually agree 100% with vast man - think we ve done amazingly well to assemble the squad that we have on the limited resources we have and am more than happy with finn , wood and sio at hooker - especially if crowther is going to get a shot at back row - cant really see o brian getting regular game time at hull so good luck to him

No he isn't, that's signing a player for the sake of it based on a bit of reputation gained a few years back.

He's no better than Anakin or Molloy, nowhere near as good as Kirmond, Arona or Ashurst and nowhere near the potential of Crowther or Batchelor so why do we need the cover?.

I can't see anywhere we currently need players, not even in the hooking roll - what I do see is that half way through the season we may need a new player because of injuries or other unforeseen events - that's when we need to spend whatever cash we may have left

You seem to agree with me quite a lot, so why the need to preface it with that statement. A lot of folk on here agree with a lot of what I post, they don't seem to feel the need to justify it - that my friend makes you a bit bizarre.

As a Hull fan, i am a bit mixed on signing him (if we are). We have Houghton who does 80mins most weeks, and although he did look a bit burnt out at the end of the year, we have fantastic 17 year old hooker coming through called Jez Litten and as a short term measure i would rather he got the game time
