| Quote Theboyem="Theboyem"I'd have Fox on the wing ahead of Mathers any day of the week. Yes he is error prone but he is at least a natural winger and will always give it everything he has got. Not sure the same can be said about Richie.
That said Owen and Riley will likely be our first choice wingers for the rest of the season.'"
According to YEP Fox has gone!

| To be fair to mathers.
Not many wingers can stop carney in full flow.
Not even the 3 who tried just after mathers failed.

| Carney was Inches away from touch, all Mathers had to do was hit him in the chest yet he tried to knock his head off, it was a pathetic effort.

Give it a rest he's not the monster you lot are making him out to be - he should have been put in touch end of.

No you're right vasty (as ever!) Justin carney's record of 60 tries in 74 career games across NRL & SL show he's not all that. As far as I'm aware no-one at Cas is making him out to be world class, we're just enjoying a player who is in great form and happens to be stronger than most people he runs at. Of course he has weaknesses in his game, he's human (just about!) and the nicknames he has are a bit if fun between fans. Calm down mate.

See there you go again all defensive and missing the point.
If Carney were English he would be an international thats not the issue.
What Im saying is that he is not such a beast that a well timed and executed tackle wouldn't of slammed him into touch.
He has a low centre of gravity that makes him hard to pull down but his balance is average and he SHOULD of gone into touch - I reckon the slight Riley would have managed that.
So lets get this straight you have a great SL standard winger who I'd have but he's far from unstoppable in a way that Iro or Vinakola were.

| The stats for most of our players don't make good reading but Richie may as well have stopped at home.

| Having just signed a super league winger who's scored 5 tries in 6 games this year, who will no doubt of had a point to prove yesterday, agar selects a sulky, dour, has been full back to play wing. And as seen above, he contributed sweet fa to the game.

| I don't understand the Mathers thread at all.
I am at a disadvantage (or possibly an advantage) as i haven't seen the game on tv yet.
The Carney missed tackle was at the opposite side of the field to me, though I was in line. Clearly it was disapointing and at the very least should have kept hold of him, but according to the stats, that was the only missed tackle from him, and there seemed to be plenty others around to help him.
Alternatively Mathers made a tackle in front of me on Carney. Carney got the ball on his line and had a good 20 metres to run at Mathers. mathers closed the gap as best he could and hit him as hard as he could. He wasn't bounced off, though he was clearly shaken, and Collis then came in to help him.
As it happens, Carney then stole two steps to put him off side and started the length of the field try for Sneyd. Not Mathers fault and did the best he could.
I'm not normally a Mathers fan but he is getting unfair treatment here from what I can see.
He frustrated me on another try when there was a two on one and he gave a half hearted tackle on the centre but to be honest there was nothing he could do as they had loads of space.
Personally, I thought Collis deserves more criticism than Mathers.
Like I said, I may think differently after watching on tv, but he wasn't in my opinion the weak link in the team

| Collis had a very quiet game. Every time I watch Mathers he seems to have his hands permanantly super-glued to his hips.

| Collis picked up an ankle injury early on and was pretty much lame for the rest of the game.
