I'm disappointed, because we should have won that game; we were absolutely caned by Child in the first half and that, coupled with bombing a couple of certain scores, let Salford get 18 points ahead.

We smartened ourselves up in the second half and but for another couple of daft mistakes, could have won the game relatively comfortably.

A bit more composure, Sammut in the mix and a change on the wings, and we're dead set to shock a few.

Walshaw played well would start him in centres and Matt Ryan should be starting for me also with Ali coming off the bench for 15 - 20 minute spells (he also played very well). I also thought Washbrook played great aswell especially after his average performances last year.
Anderson was solid and took the ball in well and Godinet was class especially in the second half something we have needed for a long time can throw a great pass and attack the line I think if him and Sammut can play around each other we won't be saying we lacked creativity. Tautai was impressive didn't knock on, quick play of the balls and some great offloads. McShane was also very impressive and has linked with Godinet very well.
If we play like we did in the second half a win against the bulls is on the cards!

A big game changer came in the first half, when it looked to me that Chase deliberately tripped Foxy, if we had scored then I think we would have gone on to win the game & if Childs or the touch judge had a pair he could have got sent off as it looked intentional ( I wonder if he`ll get cited for dangerous play )
Big raps to the team though on the defensive stints they did in the first half especially. We had to defend 5 continuous sets & although they finally scored you could see the teamwork coming through. Maybe with a bit more patience in some of our plays we would have unlocked there defence as they didnt seem up for the fight. Looking forward to Thursday and hopefully Sammuts debut (why was`nt he playing today) and hopefully seeing more of Walshaw who had a good game today with teaming up with Matt Ryan.

It looked blatantly deliberate to me too; never wish injury on a player, but there was a certain justice to him limping from the field.

At least he got a good reception from Wakey fans.

Obviously can't comment as not being there but listened to all the game via radio mancs, first half sounded dire and yes was disappointing as I did expect a little more but it sounded like they had us pinned in our own half, the second half had my heart in my mouth and from the sound of it we should of at least come away with the points, we will always look back at these games and see it as a points lost.

last season we had some late wins bet they thought the same as we do today

Today was the best time for anyone to play us as expected we've not quite gelled YET. But plus points in the game our forwards smashed yours into oblivion in the first and even at stages in the second half, Hock especially showed his power, does anyone know how Collis is by the way?

What undid us was having 4 forwards on the bench instead of a replacement halfback, we totally lost it when Chase went off as tommy Lee is no stand off. Well I'm sure mr Noble will learn from his mistakes.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

The 6-1 first half penalty count was what allowed your forwards to get on top, just like all teams when defending you get tired. Hock was good but what do you expect when your running at centres all game? Collis was fine just put his head on the wrong side but carried on. Hows Chase and Sau?
We had 3 just come off the plane a week ago and also havent really had a proper pre-season with departures and new comings.

Hock had a top game but that's a big over reaction to say your forwards smashed ours off the park. Both packs made big yards with Matt Ryan ad Ali running riot down your right hand side. Tautai had his best game by far in a wakey shirt and Raleigh even though taking some huge hits spun out of the tackles and carried on making the hard yards. Young smith was a handful too. Keinhorst looked very good until he went off and collis terrorised his opposite number every time he touched the ball. God inept will be one of the signings of the season and with sammut to come in we should have some real flair and creativity. If we'd have had a true class finisher on either of the wings we'd have come away with at least a point. Salford will fight for the 8 but won't trouble the big boys as they won't be able to last the distance with so many ageing players but they are going to be pretty good to watch. A lot depends on how other sides perform but if I was comparing our first game this year to the first game last year then I'd say we're in a much better position and I believe as they gel this side may well shock a few. Looks like an exciting season ahead

What a load of rubbish!

Second half
Ali Lauitiiti ran riot and totally eclipsed any performance by any one of your forwards.
Taulima Tautai was causing havoc in your defensive line and regularly took three or four defenders on and still offloaded the ball.
Scott Anderson and Matt Ryan have both been in the country for less than a week and still matched anything Pulutua, Morley, Hock or Hanson etc did
Kirmond also had a good game
The best hooker on the field was McShane by a country mile.

Mcshane was outstanding. He's a better hooker than aiton, much crisper distribution and to say the Leeds fans said his defense is weak he tackled like a Trojan today

Agreed surprisingly I thought our defence was solid today, yes they scored 3 trys in the first half but look how many consecutive sets they had when we were on our line.

Defense looks like it's been worked on in the off season but let's be honest it needed it! To a man they all tackled their hearts out and defended the line manfully. Mathews stop one on one on a rampaging hock was a corker and somewhat unexpected!
