He's a good player, I'm glad we have him, but he comes across as thinking he's a better player than he is. We've had much worse in that position and I'd rather he be in a Wakefield shirt than not.

i will agree ,with you trinity that he thinks hes better than he is,but remarks like hes a good fullback,marshalls the defence well, rather have him in a wakey shirt than not .Im sorry id sooner have him in another shirt than ours but cme on were stuck with him with no other club wanting him we give him atwo year contract ihope your right but i doubt it

That is a good question though to be honest i don't think the coach will try anyone else.
New contract and vice captain - obviously the coach believes. But i hope they try others in the pre-season. Don't envy anyone being a coach. Good luck for the new season  |

He's a decent super league full back and we don't have anyone else who can do a better job in the squad IMHO. Attacking wise he seemed to go quite well last season. Off the field he helps raising the profile of the club through his media commitments. Some fans need to be realistic with what a small club can afford. |

His positives outweigh his negatives so unless Mr slater comes knocking or anyone else of a better quality then Mathers is our FB. I can only think of one or maybe two fullbacks in SL that are good both in attack and defense.

tomkins ain't good in attack and defence. Though he will make you more points than he costs at FB. Patten was similar.

I'd also say Hardaker - though his passing aint great

Richie and tim smith work really well together in attack, we have being waiting for a full back with attacking flair at Wakefield for years and I believe in rm we have it
I'm fully behind Richie and was glad to see him contracted to us
