I was under the impression pay as you play deals werent allowed under sl rules, didnt a deal like this crop up a year or two ago when we were linked with someone. Could be wrong though

Pay as you play deals are allowed but you have set aside the money in the salery cap for if he plays every game.

It is a big gamble for us. He could either play 3 or 4 games all season because of injuries, or he could be one of our best players.

I wouldnt say its a gamble on our part, if he only plays 3 or 4 games, it wouldnt cost us hardly anything.

good business me thinks, not a gamble at all, if he's passed it he dont play and dont get paid, if he's his old self then he gets paid and we get one cracking player,
