| Quote: The Avenger "They’ve signed 4, FOUR prop forwards and we couldn’t find one!
It’s not always down to money either, sometimes it’s timing and having your ear close enough to the ground to know who’s potentially going to become available, we seem to be incapable of identifying anyone other than when an agent tries to push deadwood in our direction. We’ve apparently been looking for a year or so, well whose looking, what are they doing to find players who might join us or are they just waiting for a club to contact us with someone they want to offload.
You need to read the whole post, I’ve clearly stated that I’ll give Butler time to show us what he can do but at the same time he’s not a totally unknown quantity is he and his career so far doesn’t inspire, but as I wrote earlier let’s see.'"
To be fair we've struggled for a long time to sign any props and we have the exact same conversation every year about wverybody else signing props yet we can't find one. The only reason we've been able to sign Dudson, Kasiano for next year is because we have 14 players off contract so we have the cash to splash, and we do like to throw money around on pointless signings. Really glad it's been thrown in the right direction this time for us.
Rob Butler i'm disappointed to see go, i was buzzing when we signed him as he was brilliant for London in SL in 2019. Then Covid struck and he had a year of not playing. He came to us clearly out of shape and never seemed to fully get back in shape again. He's a big unit and aggressive and i hope an extended run in your first team will get his full fitness and form back for you. I don't think you'll go down and i hope you don't, you've got a good squad with some quality players dotted about, and i think you'll hit a higher gear the backend of the season

Very good points - completely agree about Butler - I remember him being wicked for London in their ‘19 SL campaign too. He played for our reserves the other night and was easily one of, if not, THE best of the pitch. I’m hoping with another couple of games under his belt he’ll find that form and really make that difference for us. I think he’ll turn out to be a cracking singing for us….. looking forward to seeing how he’ll play against Wolves in a couple of weeks - I’m sure he’ll want to send a message and prove DP wrong for not giving him more opportunity.

| Just watching Fev game and Eseh looks massive. Hard to believe he’s 18! Lad seems to be difficult to put down too with some fight in him.
Every game he gets will hopefully put him closer to his SL debut.

He’s a real find and one we can’t afford to mess up. Sadly you just can’t push it. He’s moved from Academy to reserves to Barrow and is now with arguably the best non SL club. That’s good going. I expect him to feature heavily in any friendlies this year and take it fro there.

I agree. He’s not far off and another pre season and a few friendly should see him challenge for a SL place on the bench. He may get the odd game back end of season if he keeps performing well for featherstone. Lad could also have a chance to play in championship playoffs/final.

| Just thinking about our forwards and props for 2023.
Is there any realistic targets for us from the NRL?
What about David Fifita? For me he is still a very good prop and I think would be worth another season. Would his brother be an option for us perhaps. Seems he’s played a number of games in the NRL but I’m not sure on how he’s been playing. He would most certainly have to take a pay drop to join us and potentially David. Maybe he could bring young Franklin Pele with him!
There was mention of Will Maher but not heard anything on that for some time.
Eseh looks like he could be ready to go in 2023 finally. Would be good to build a monster pack for next season but I suppose we’re not the only team looking.

| I see Robbie Mulhern is the next out of the door at Warrington.
A very Trinity type signing. Lost his way a little at Warrington but a talented lad with lots to prove.
I think he could be an astute long term replacement for Arona with him being comfortable as a natural middle although he does bring a bit more natural size than T and also non quota obviously.

Yes 100% he’d be an excellent signing, just seems to have lost his way a little at Wire but a lot of players seem to have there at the minute. I’d have him in a heart beat, class is permanent and the lad has it in abundance.

Reports say contract talks unsuccessful. It seems to be more of a case that they couldn’t agree terms rather than none offered.
I’d be a bit cautious to offer any big money but certainly worth looking at for sure.

On the games I saw him play for Hull KR, as they came back up in 2017 or 2018, always looked to be on of their better players.
Seems to have lost his way at Warrington.
But still only 26/27, and a few years ahead of him.
Could go well for us. I think he’s a local lad too, which can be a bonus.

| Mulhern would be ideal for us
Could be a very good long term non quota addition to trin with his best years yet to come
I’d be pleased if we did sign him
