| Would rather have brough and the influence he brings than larne partick, unlikely to get a game and small amount of cash, might aswell keep brough till the end of the season for me.

That - if true - is massive news.
Do you have any details on this story?

I must say the one thing that is confusing me in all this is why we would let brough go before the end of the season. The offer would have to be a really good one to make any sense (maybe this is where the initial rumours of a couple of players and some cash came from), as the bottom line is whether we like it or not, we do not have anyone else in the squad who can give us what Brough does and we would definitely be weaker in the halves with Sam and BJ or Bj and Cooke playing there.. Finishing as high as we can again this season will be important for a franchise point on "adding to the competition" or whatever being competitive was badged as.

who knows? maybe only DB and shudds
Just narks me to find I have to accept another club is above us in the pecking order, no blame to WTRLFC Ill admit , but it still isnt easy to swallow.'"
Narks me too but we will have to accept it. Until we get a new ground, improve our gates and therefore income and can pay out the full Cap we have to reluctantly accept that we cannot compete financially with better supported clubs or those with "sugar daddies".

sorry mate cant see this improving our gates!, can see exactly the opposite!
Bigger gates come with success, end of!
and without gates improving in next year or two (puts on helmet) the new ground becomes a white elephant because in revenue terms we wont be able to afford to run it, fans are NOT going to come in their thousands to watch a team in a new ground that loses week in week out.

Complete opposite IMO. We could be a top 4 side - but if we're playing at home and it's raining we will still only get 4k regulars.
We need to move forward on the pitch / off the pitch and with the bloody pitch!

Even if we can reach the cap it may not end there. SL is a fantasy world concept that has rules like salary caps, not tapping up players before deadlines etc.
There are three clubs that I know which are up to the cap 'on paper' however their real wage bill is way above. This is done by making cash payments to players and is something we could never do with our financial structure even with a new stadium. To really compete at the highest level you need an outside financial structure that can pump money into the club over and beyond the cap. When money comes from an outside source such as this it can never be traced and the RFL can do sweet FA about it.
Players are like us they all pay tax and NI. A nice cash lump sum will always be appreciated and will always
give you an edge in contract negotiations

We will have to agree to disagree. As much as I love Belle Vue its a dump and I genuinely believe lots of people are put off by its state. A slight hint of rain a few hours before kick off and plenty are put off - I'm not talking of diehards like most on here but your'e floating fans. We need to attract a new breed of fans and I believe to do so we need 21st Century facilities which a new stadium will bring.
I agree that bigger gates come with success - no one wants to watch a losing side although I seem to have done it for most of my life - but we are restricted at Belle Vue. Winning regularly should help but we finished 5th last season and gates were down so I think the secret if success is probably a combination of both - winning and better facilities. Also better facilities gives us a better chance of attracting more investors and sponsors.
I believe our future is totally dependent on a new ground. No ground no future - I think the club would die outside Super League. Just my opinion for what its worth.

Maybe elsewhere in the universe but for some reason not in Wakefield.
We started this season winning three out of three including the prize scalp of Leeds infront of our home fans.
Followed by a very creditable away performance at Saints.
Next gig is shudds at home and due to your theory they should have been flocking in by then but we managed just over 5K.

| Is it false economy letting Broughy go before the end of the season?, on the one hand we get a lesser player plus a few quid, and some will argue that he will go for nothing at the end of the season anyway. But on the other hand what will happen if our attendances go down because of disgruntled fans' what good will the few quid we get for Brough have done if we lose it on the turnstiles. Also what effect will it have on team performances' and ultimately our league position bearing in mind both are part of the criteria for a SL franchise for 2012. What a choice to make.

I assume money talks (if true) and money in the bank is worth twice possible finances coming up... I wouldnt like to make the decision of turning down ÂŁÂŁÂŁÂŁ from Huddersfield now or letting him go for free at the end of the season...
