I thought at one point Chester was resting Johnstone to take care of him but it now seems like more and more Chester doesn’t rate him. TJ is the best back I’ve seen ever come through the ranks at trinity and is on the GB team books but can’t get a regular run. What it must do for the lads confidence too when he knows if he makes one error that he gets dropped for 1-2 weeks. How is him or any player supposed to find any form.

| Many people have commented that this is the best squad we have assembled for some time, problem seems to be Chester doesn't actually know what his best 17 is.
He seems unable or unwilling to give the fringe players an extended run in the team.
What is the point of having contracts invested in some of these players if they aren't going to be utilised.
Ive no doubt not everyone will agree, but these are just my personal observations.
We have a young back rower(Batchelor) that we tied to a long term contract, but has his path blocked by a "past his sell by" Kirmond and a 31 year old overseas player (Horo)
We have a young full back(Jowitt),again that we tied to a long term deal, but as shown today Chester won't select him, preferring to select a lad (Hampshire) who was signed as back up to the halves.
Chester won't drop Finn, although he's been great value for money,he's simply not good enough now.
Im far from convinced Hampshire is the solution, but that isn't a good enough reason to allow Finn to continue getting the gig.
Caton Brown, was selected over Johnstone today, unless Johnstone was injured, simply mind boggling selection.
Im afraid Chester strikes me as the type of person, that is totally stubborn and will stick with his selections, even when all around are wondering.........which his prerogative.
The victory of a HKR team missing many players only served to paper over the cracks.
We are on a downward spiral at the wrong point of the season,Catalans and Huddersfield are picking up points and looking at our next 4 fixtures we could be become firmly entrenched in the middle 8s dogfight.
Something has to change,a defeat against Widnes and i think Chester may have a twitchy bum!!!

| It's a real shame but it appears Kimond is a spent force now no pace, doesn't break a tackle or lead from the front. He looks like he will be playing in the Championship next year (hopefully not with Trinity!)....
Justin Horo has only shown brief glimpses of his ability mostly comes to notice when a penalty is given away by him for a high tackle. Very disappointing signing by Chester.
Although Pauli Pauli was a threat and is the one positive from today.

Absolutely and you can add Batchelor to those two as well ...

| Caton Brown missed two run chances today that TJ would have killed for.

| Well, it looks like we're back to the bad old days where we turn up expecting to watch the team lose. I can't say I've missed them over the past couple of years, but the team look to have no confidence, the coach doesn't look like he cares, and the fans are rightfully getting pee'd off.
Do I think Chester leaving would fix the problems? Probably not, would him leaving make it any worse? Probably not. I'm starting to think we're seeing 'peak Chester' a wholly predictable set of plays and a lack of fire/spark. I certainly think that Finn and Kirmond have come to the end of their SL careers though, there's no shame or malice intended in this and both have been excellent for the club but it's time to look at their replacements and get them playing instead

| I’m afraid to say it but the buck stops with the coach ,he needs to turn things around real quick as time is not on our side. Not only will we be dragged into an end of season dogfight ,but I fear we will be less of a bargaining power when it comes to the stadium .
It’s all turning into a season to forget ,especially saving players from the challenge cup to concentrate on the league ,what a great idea that turned out to be .

| Quote: Willzay "Richard Agar Mark 2. Picking the underperforming favourites, ie Finn and Kirmond. No leaders on the field to give the players a bollocking. If Scruton was here he'd be raging at them for that start.'"
Thank God he isn't. The man who has biceps the size of planets but runs the ball in like a breeze block.
I remember us getting beat 80-0 away at Warrington 3 years ago. Recent performances haven't been good but Chester can still turn it around but he needs to stop chopping and changing and know his best team!
Finn can seem to do no wrong even though he has been pretty poor this year. Too slow, only seems to put 1 set play on, can't kick in play. Drops a young full back to play a half back at full back when he should be dropping Finn. Bizarre. Post-match press conferences he doesn't seem to have answers either. "Out-enthused". If the players aren't being enthusiastic enough then it's because they don't want to do it for Chester. It is his job to get the team up for it. I'm not in the Chester out camp yet but he's showing signs of losing the plot. Hopefully he asks John Duffy for some advice on attacking structure when he links up with Scotland because Fev are a joy to watch with ball in hand.

| How can we have people on the same thread who watch the same game saying the coach is bad for playing his favourites and is too stubborn to change yet also saying he is out of line for dropping TJ, Max and Batchelor.

| What have we got to play for this season?
League Leaders - not a chance
Grand Final - we're nowhere near top 4
Challenge Cup - we're already out of it
Watene trophy - nope, missed that one too
It's half way through May and not even half way through the season, and the most we realistically have to play for is surviving in SL for another year

Personally i wouldnt say hes dropped Max/Batchelor considering he hasnt actually given them a decent run in the team anyway, rather than dropped,i would say he wont select them.
The stubborn side of him comes with his unwillingness to accept Finn/Kirmond offer nothing, yet keep getting selected.
I honestly cant fathom why he didnt select Johnstone today, unless weve accepted a £175k bid from Leeds and agreed not to play him.

It wasn’t “joy to watch” last time I was there, more like Annie get yer gun.
