| Cracking game was that. Plenty of quality in that Fiji team. The fullback was sensational.

He did.
Wonder if he was trying to impress someone, for his next contract.

He did ok but for me the FB was sensational. Honestly I’d take him over Wakeman but then I don’t know the team plan.

| Wakeman does seem to have the odd big error in him, that’s not just going off tonight but the whole tournament and what I have seen of him at the Bulldogs (which isn’t much I admit).
Turuva was unbelievable in attack and defence. His energy was fantastic to watch combined with obvious quality.
I think he would be one to keep an eye on longer term. At his age I’m sure he will have hopes of cracking the NRL, however these days over there they tend to like monsters at fullback not smaller lads and I think his stature may hamper him.
Next WC is 3 years away and he will still only be 21/22 then, I’d think he may well be ready to move to SL assuming he hasn’t cracked the NRL or gone to Union as a lot of the Fijian lads tend to do.

| The camera work on the two cultural salutes by Tonga and Samoa was a perfect example of how not to film it. Dreadful. Too close and got no real sense of it.
Looking at that, and how they do the video replays, I don't think the producers have ever seen rugby league before. Rugby league, on the whole, is best seen from a distance.

| Nene McDonald was terrible in defence yesterday. He got pulled from the field after that first 30. Hope Leeds sign him.

It’s really funny you mention this slugger and it’s never come up before but you are totally right
I’ve thought this for years too, a haka / Sipi tau / siva tau is an incredible part of our game but it’s absolutely key to get good camera work
I think it’s a 1/5ish chance that you’ll get good camera work for one too
Aussie tv defo does it better
I’m not bagging the bbc as I think they do a good job but they didn’t do a good job of the Tonga Samoa cultural challenge
Far too close and too low
It’s a real spectacle and the camera men should be doing there home work better to get the most from it

| I am really surprised that there haven’t been any announcements of signings by SL teams of any of the Lebanon WC Squad who I thought overall were really impressive and some of the squad were definitely SL standard…..

I’m also surprised. There are one or two I would really like trinity to sign.
Khalil Rahme - big prop/loose is the pick of the bunch for me. Has strength, size and and seems to be a strong defender. He would fill our interchange 13 spot or equally prop and he’s fairly young in prop terms. His highlights show him playing both prop and 13 regularly.
McKenzie Yei - very direct runner of the ball. Would probably be a good option for an impact bench prop. Again only around mid 20s.
Be happy with either of these.
These are the two I would likely look at. I did like the look of Kalache also for Lebanon.
The rumour about Patrick Mago leaving Wigan seems to be still talked about on Wigan forum too.
While I have faith in the club Im getting a bit impatient myself for some signings now. We desperately need props, a centre, loose and halfback/fullback cover.

Not that simple. I know I keep saying this.
Some for a start will not get a work permit. Some may have full time jobs that they can't leave at short notice. Then of course from our end we have to get medicals, insurances, sort out a legally binding contract, and of course agree terms.
All takes time. I can see some overseas players not actually being announced until the new year.
As for Mago, it could be a case of Wigan waiting for their plans to fall into place, see the above.

Regards the work permit I’m sure I read that any World Cup international players can obtain a work permit. Not sure on the reliability of that though.
I don’t doubt the club will be going through a process and I do understand but as a fan it’s a little frustrating that we are the team who has the most recruitment left to do and pre season training is presently underway.
I do understand that we were behind the 8 ball again due to not securing our status till the final weeks of the season but my impatience is starting to get the better of me now.
Its a good job that the people behind the club have that patience us fans don’t especially if it means we get some good quality and the right players in.

One, I wouldn't bank on permits for some of the names you mention.
Most SL clubs will have started training without some players. Some are yet to arrive, some are still in the WC, and those who were will now be taking their holidays, ie Hood as an example. Obviously we are less bothered by that than almost any other SL club,
