"Stand by me as I stand by you, be brave and dare to dream".: |

| If I were a wakey fan there are a few things I'd want to know before commenting on any proposed move away from Belle Vue. For example; How much actually is the rent? I've heard reports of it costing £250,000 to play at Belle Vue this year, but is that the rental figure or does it include other add on's as alluded to above? If so, what were they? Are they likely to be included in the price every year? What are comparison rates for rental like? There are plenty of other's too, but this would be the main one to get things rolling.
From reading on this forum and listening to family & friends who follow wakey it feels like there's a ''support us or else' attitude running through the club on a number of decisions, big and small. I get that MC owns the club, but I think more could be done to get the fans behind him and ultimately the club (tag lines are cheesy, of that there's no doubt but together you really are stronger). Best of luck.

I believe about half of that figure quoted is rent and the other half is maintenance costs.

| If we had not signed Yates, Tansey, Kirke, Kavanagh and say Molloy and there's circa £100k saving right there without too much detriment to the team. If there are gaps in the squad or injuries used your juniors. Trinity have wasted more than £250k on garbage players this year.
How much are Dewsbury charging anyway? £50k per annum?

| I will say it again . the clubs owned by M C he can run it as he likes . I remember challenging him over a year ago about the lack of marketing and speculating to accumulate. I got short change then from M C and many on here . I then remember you get what you pay for episode holding the supporters responsible for the playing squad . while telling the supporters we would have a squad that would compete in SL.
I do not like the tone or the way M C runs the club but I don't support him I support Wakefield Trinity . I would suspect he acts in the best Interests of his investment first and club second. With regards to Dewsbury I think its probably the best option available .

| I’m going to play devils advocate here - and hope that I’m right - in the vain hope that there is some master plan behind the horrors the club currently face.
Everything I write is pure speculations but my facts as ever will be correct….Also a number of posters have touched on these points.
We can’t afford rent or at least don’t want to pay that rent for a load of crap.
We now know our long term future is away from BV.
Short term however it’s still viable JUST.
We know that the land despite having planning permission is not fit to build on - or at least large sections aren’t without extensive and prohibitive costs.
We know that fundamentally BV is not an attractive site for anything much.
We know that the grounds covenants are strong enough to heavily delay though not stop any development at very little legal costs.Leverage.
BOI know it’s got a lemon on it’s hands and can’t believe we agreed to such a high rent to start with.
They have also already recouped the money they lost to the old club over the last 5 years if the figures quoted are to be accepted.
Someone sympathetic puts in a very low bid on “finding out” the land is up for grabs.
BOI are not developers or landlords, they have recouped their losses so even a low sale cost will yield them a profit and get the damn thing off their books.
Whoever will pay a fair bit in loan repayments or lose some interest if the cash is lent free and short term but at least know that they will at some point in the future recoup most if not all of it on the sale of the ground which in the meantime they will have stripped off any covenants.
It’s what I’d do, so I’m probably wrong, but if by some fluke I’m right I hope the BOI don’t read this forum (though I suspect they would twig it and not give a stuff anyway).
People who could do this
The BOD and maybe a few well wishers using a front company.
Sir Rodney Walker
Ted Richardson (assuming he won his case against Sainsbury’s) left field but possible.
As I say, utter speculation and a bit of fun and perhaps a glimmer of hope.

That's roughly the situation we were in around round 8 when Webster said we were resigned to the bottom 4...a team and squad that weren't good enough to compete.
Fans on here were in uproar, but that's what you are suggesting we return to.
It's a fact that the rent being paid to BoI is considerably above the market rate for that land.
BoI have banked on Wakey having no other option than to pay it. Supply and demand, I guess, but with the exit point on the contract coming up a few weeks back, the club can look at other, more realistic supply.

Personally I don't think your far off the mark there old boy, Carter hasn't gone to the trouble and expense to fetch Smith over and give him license to swap and change the playing staff for the fun of it, I'm sure he's banking on him keeping us in superleague and if he does I can honestly see the club or people close to it buying it and developing it as and when finances dictate.
All this of course will become academic if we fail to maintain our superleague status, and maybe Mr carter is looking for other options like Dewsbury or Doncaster if that is the case as maybe buying it would not be a viable option in the championship.
There are things attributed to the chairman which has made him unpopular to some fans, right or wrong I'm sure he was aware of these matters at the time, but as finances are his forte I'm sure he's smarter than some on here would give him credit for.

Which would mean I wouldn't be able to make many games at all. But I can see why they would choose Saturdays as Dewsbury will
rightly get the Sundays.

True but you will struggle to sell season tickets if the home games are split between some Saturdays and some Sundays.

| Saturday is fine by me; clashes with nothing else I do.
Wendy ball has successfully diversified to Sundays, as has horse racing. Most large shops are open 7 days a week, pubs have changed their opening hours.
I can't see how playing on Saturday is any different to playing on Sunday to be honest.
