| Quote: adam9641 "4,263 at the game tonight'" they must of been watching in the alleys where the tellys are at the bars, I never understand why when you support a team all year that you can't take five mins to applaud there efforts for the season, huddersfield has had their best season and they walk out in disgust,
as disappointed as I was at going out of the play offs I felt I had to at least show my appreciation for the bone aching work that they have done all season

Mmmmmm... Seems over the top to me . Would like to bet ours go up steadly over the next 2 seasons - know what I mean ??!!
This is what I don't get about the rfl - if we had played cas last week it would have been a sell out ... but if we don't have a cracking stadium (galpharm) then it's bye, bye time for us both .
Sorry but that was embarasment tonight as an rl fan.

| seems to me the top 8 play off idea has not been a success. poor crowds at all games, reckon they will go back to a top 6 format next season,
clubs put so much emphasis on season ticket sales that when the team plays at home in a cup tie/playoff game the speccys tend to stay away, maybe putting a voucher in the season ticket would boost the numbers

I'm not sure why it should be any worse. If you finished 3rd to 6th, it was still three games before Old Trafford like it is now. It is only one side who has an extra game now.
I assume it is people choosing to stay at home, and what can the RFL do about that? They have to make the money to give to the clubs, who are businesses after all.
I don't understand why there has been the drop off.

| It's easy the SL set the prices @ £10 entry for the first 2 weeks they more than double the crowds, so no monies are lost. You can usually guarentee that the final eliminating semi's will be well attended. The game benefits from being played in relativly full stadiums right through the series as well.
It's no coincidence although the Catalans have played well and to their strengths they have won both times in atmospheres that do not exactly inspire.
The game looked @ the problem with the early round of the Challenge Cup and fixed that so there's no reason that this can't be fixed.

| I think I read that the Giants reduced the price to £15, which I think is a fair price, sadly the Giants fans have been spoiled by the cheap season tickets etc. and resort to TV because it`s cheaper. I thought the RFL said that Clubs in the play-offs had to charge their normal admission prices due to the fact that all the gate receipts are pooled, and allocated according to finishing position, obviously not the case. Time for some innovation from the RFL, maybe a standard charge, e.g. £10 for every play-off game, the total receipts would probably be the same while better crowds tend to encourage a better game. I know it won`t happen but maybe Sky could show delayed coverage, giving people time to go to the game, then get home to see the delayed coverage.

| How much better would attendances have looked if the fixtures had panned out differently?
What crowd would a Wakey/Cas fixture have attracted if the final league games had worked out differently?
Then if a Wakey, Cas or say a Bradford had gone to Huddersfield last night, how many would that have drawn?
The RFL desperately need to do something and probably the prices is the number one thing they need to look at, but another huge reason for me is having a club in the play-offs that doesn't take more than 50 fans to any away games.
In amongst all the stick that us and Huddersfield have had over the last couple of weeks, where's the criticism of having a team in the play-offs who have so few travelling fans?

| I think a reduction on price would be a good idea, if the game was £10 last night I think I would have donned my trinity shirt and showed my support to Oli et all

I'm sure you didn't mean to say that!
But why do we always rely on a price drop?
There were 40k at Elland Road to watch a 3rd division side playing in a 3rd division competition. No one suggested it was a bad time, or a poor day - they just turned up expecting a game of puffball.
Why the hell do folk not turn up for some of the biggest games of the season - in our case, THE biggest. I just don't know!
