Quote: steadygetyerboots-on "It is pointless pointing the finger at either set of fans as being responsible in my opinion. No-one can honestly say that one set of fans behaved better than another. Those who threw things, goaded and charged at other fans

Agreed. From a position right behind it, there were elements who were embarrassing on both sides. Aside from the knuckledraggers and beer-fuelled juvenille fighting cocks, who are obvious scum, what really saddened me was the grown men on both sides who one minute were appealing to stewards to sort it, pointing out miscreants, then the next minute adding to the goading, pushing and inflammatory chanting.

Agreed, can see attendances dropping off now. Plenty of lot in north stand last night won't come back, seems they just come out for this one game.

Worth pointing out that there weren't any Cas fans in Chav Corner, so we know who was to blame for the pint thrown over the crowd and towards Rangi Chase. Players like Owen don't help, gesturing towards the fans when he scored, but I can take stuff like that in good humour. And of course there was the cross-biting neanderthal in front of me who was offering out an elderly gent and a woman because they accidentally knocked the dregs of his pint from the railing.

Good Friday has turned into a day on the lash. Lunchtime kick off please in future.

But the queue never went down for the beer kiosk so someone will be happy.

It won't be long before a video of these events appears on youtube, saw a couple of people filming the incident/s.

Still absolutely disgusted by it all.

Firstly the atmosphere in the north stand was better than anything I have witnessed at bv in 35 years until it all kicked off after about 20 mins.

The theory behind the let's in north campaign is correct I feel. Poor atmosphere caused by lack of a roof. Home fans standing in disparate areas due to tradition.

Clearly it did not work last night. Lets not dump the let's in north idea its got legs but put the away fans in front of the east stand or west stand with the latter having access to better food and bar facilities.

Next. Zero tolerances approach on the idiots. Chav corner needs sorting out. Been going on too long. Same as the idiots who sit at the back of the away buses week in week out. It's always the same mindless idiots who will stand as close to where the opposition idiots. But it never gets knocked on tIe head by the stewards they need to earn there money and now is the time.

The major question that needs to be answered is why were people allowed in who were drunk and why were people allowed in without bags being searched for bottles and cans.

The fault can be dished out in many directions'"

well said. Never mind segregate opposing fans, let all decent fans of both teams stand together and segregate the idiots

Quote: Jizzer "There was many fans posting on here, facebook and Twitter saying 'make the north stand wakey only' so you cant blame Glover for giving the fans what they wanted....he was just trying to increase the home atmosphere at Belle Vue and rightly so! It's alright saying in hindsight 'this was bound to happen with segregation', but this doesn't happen at other grounds that separate the two sets of supporters. Dont blame the club, blame the idiots who can't hold their ale!!'"

the talk beforehand was the catalyst that gave the idiots their excuse. Not all Wakey fans want to go North or indeed headed North in fact many fans would have been completely unaware of the campaign as not all read facebook, twitter etc, many still just rely on the good old newspapers.

Last night was a disgrace from both clubs. I'm not saying this started the trouble, however stewards were informed early in the first half of 3/4 Cas fans throwing bottles of beer, but did nothing.
If more stewards were in the north stand, the fans would have been controlled better, I think it would have been a much more pleasant experience for both clubs.

The stewards were on a hiding to nothing as they were getting very little respect from the idiots. I'm just thankful that we had these stewards rather than the old ones as that would have been a real disaster.

Agreed.

The stewards we have are first class, without them being able to look after themselves last night would have been worse, they don't muck about and dont come off second best.

The old lot would have got murdered in the north stand.

Shocking night
The letsgonorth campain has proved to be a disaster. Although the sentiments of this were ok and it would be great to have a "kop", the reality is that this instantly created a "fight" for space within the ground.
To demand segregation within a ground like BV with 3 days notice was ridiculous, and to then do so with just a few stewards made matters worse.
Our club insisted that around 3000 Cas fans should watch the game from an area that would hold around 1000-1500 was impossible and this position was made worse by the stance taken by RW.
However, there were too few stewards, althought the ones that were present did an excellent job.
There were around 15-20 blokes on the walkway on the north stand who, although "supporting" wakey, were not wearing club colours and they looked more like rent-a-mob. They were goading the Cas fans for the first 30 mins of the game, deliberatly trying to incite a fight.
When the trouble flared early in the second half, this group went further up the north stand at which poind we moved to the west stand.
This particular group were not rugby fans, they were there for one purpose only, to cause trouble.
On this evidence RL cannot be considered a family sport and the club must take much of the responsibility for creating this truly horrible and shambolic situation.
Hindsight is a wonderful thin, but the letsgonorth campain should never have happened. icon_sad.gif
Without it people would have probably have gone about their business as usual

To a previous comment that I can't find I was the kid in the Santa hat and I simply was there singing and when it got out of hand I did move because I didn't want to be involved with that Mobthat was causing trouble I can safely say I was there to sing and be passionate, however I was hot by several bottles and threw none back I don't renown myself as a hooligan and have nothing to hide by posting on here so of you think I should be ashamed to stand and sing and be passionate then there's some thing wrong, as soon as I got hit and the fans started pushing towards the stewards and cas fans in the second half me and my mate left and went to the refreshments stand where I usuallystand and will probably be staying as I didn't want to be associated with these so called 'hooligans' so I thought I'd clear that up

I have been to Boca Juniors versus Rivers Plate in Argentina. I was stood below the away supporters with no roof above me. I spent 2 hours dodging bleach, cups of urine, and bags of poo. Police helicopters hovering above the whole game, riot police on the pitch at all times, several police checkpoints everywhere around the ground. That was a hostile atmosphere to say the least. People wrapping paper around their heads to cover the blood that was dripping from them, whilst dodging further flying coins from above.

In all seriousness, Rugby league is a family game, and we all love our great game for this. I have been on both forums today, and the Wakefield forum is certainly accepting more blame than on the Cas forum, where apart from a couple of posters, it seems they are faultless. The majority of "supporters" will be faultless, but I do accept one or two often get caught up in the moment. Most of the time though, these are just mindless idiots who use it an excuse to get drunk and then can broadcast on facebook that they have been to a live sports event

I will add that I went to Leeds and Bradford game last night. 20,000 people there and not one jot of trouble. I don't believe these are real rugby league supporters, these will be mindless idiots who go with the intent on getting drunk before the game has started. Every superleague club has them, but it is down to the club of where the game is held to prevent this happening. In hindsight, some of the things that the Wakefield club did and said before the game may not have helped matters, but the crux of the problem is the idiots that do not know how to behave, simple as.

Next time, I think the game should be played at 12 noon on good Friday. It's blatantly obvious that alot of trouble will not take place when certain types of people will not have had chance to get fueled up on alcohol.

One question, are the stewards provided by Key security?

Hopefully this is a one off. I'm sure the idiots who got thrown out will not know this site exists. Everyone should be in unity, one big rugby league family.
