| Quote: Trojan Horse "That’s not what I was saying. I don’t think anyone would ever suggest a player is bigger than the club.
I don’t know Murphy personally or are privy to players opinions or thoughts of the club like you to say that his heart was never at the club. I never saw anything short of bags of effort from the lad though.
I’m happy with what we got but Murphy would have been a good signing and no doubt will be a good signing for saints.'"
Read it again .
Where did I say YOU said he was bigger than the club?

| Amazes people question player commitment
Murphy was out of contract at wakefield. Had an offer to stay at wakefield but chose Sydney.
Who wouldn’t …. NRL minimum wage (significantly more than we could have offered) and the opportunity to test himself in the Roosters environment was too good to miss out on IMO
Saints now have come in offered him a deal at one of the if not the biggest club in SL.
Good luck to him.

Then why would you respond to my post saying that no player is bigger than the club. Nobody had suggested he was until you quoted my post. It’s reasonable for me to think that’s what you believed in that circumstance or why mention or question it.
If you meant that it’s your opinion then that’s fine but that wasn’t clear. I’m pretty sure not one fan would value any player over the club anyway.

That’s the thing though.
Croft and Shaw had a contract offer and did not sign it. They then were unable to take a contract in the UK until after their 23rd? Birthday unless it was with Trinity. They signed for French and Australian clubs. As no club would pay a fee we finally agreed a contract with them as we needed them also.
How is this scenario different to that? If as you say trinity offered a contract then other clubs in uk shouldn’t be able to sign him without paying a fee should they?
I see no difference in the Croft/Shaw/Murphy situations unless it’s been changed or club agreed to relinquish any fees etc.

I was really agreeing with you about TJ and LW
It is my opinion that no player is bigger than a club .
I don't seek conflict with you but never have understood the Murphy 'love in' thing. Again just my opinion

Fair enough. We are on the same page about being happy with TJ and Walmsley. TJ vs Murphy will be a fun battle next season!
I don’t see Murphy in the same light as TJ. Murphy has alot of potential but TJ has always been special and he’s my favourite player too! I even watch Catalans last few seasons just to see him play so I’m made up he’s returning.
I don’t disagree no player is bigger than the club if it was just a general point that’s fair enough. I agree with that and think the same in general.
I do wonder if any talks took place but who knows. Maybe in the future we will see him in trinity colours. Maybe not.
More big points for Trinity academy of recent years.

I suspect they pay a similar rate to the rest of superleague.

Steady on mate we'll even be agreeing a lot more! TJ is special we've seen him score some great tries and here's to many more! As trinity fans well both appreciate that!

It's 22 not 23. And if we've stopped paying him it's void anyway.

I did think it was 23 as Croft is 23 almost 24 and brought back when he was 22.
But I recall something about paying so if we haven’t then it as you say probably void.

I agree he gave 100% while playing.
I really mean that after his injury he was looked after for months by the club but then opted to change clubs..had his heart been at Trinity perhaps he would have wanted to stay?
I don't dislike the lad for that and I wish him well but he chose to leave and far more exciting things have been happening this season for me to even think about Lewis Murphy.
Just my opinion!'"
So if you arent thinking about him, why are you discussing him lmao

| Lewis is a talented player... And blessed with great speed.. i saw him in a couple of games here in Aus.. and he struggled with the physicality of the game (even at reserve grade) but showed glimpses of his ability.
I wish him well with his career... Even at Saints ... Who I still beat a grudge against for stealing Alan Hunte.
