| What es me off the most about this is not that fact of losing Corey, we don’t know his circumstances and what he or his agent wanted etc. It’s the fact that most fans were bleating about signing Shaul when he was offered on a plate, Shaul wanted to come, he was great for us when he played. He would of added great depth and competition to that FB spot. Instead we’ve been left with quite possibly the worst deal in RL history since Eddie Stobart sponsored SL for free.
I know we are on a shoe string budget but our preparation has been absolutely poor clearly, and just smacks of pure desperation now, 1 injury to our FB and then we’ve had to offload our best talent to make up for it.

A fullback is probably the most influential player in attack these days.
Kay has done an adequate job catching the ball and tackling….but that is no longer the job of a 1.
Without a specialist 1 our attack is always going to struggle as they play as the third creative pivot and are relied on to create a lot of assists by nearly every club.
I’m not a betting man but when Max returns I can see him moving to 6 with Dagger at 1 which will give us more pace and threat in the backline than we have had all year.

| He isn't actually, that bad a player. He's been behind the pecking order of one of the best full backs in super league.
Good luck Will, despite all the negativity, around this.

He’s a very good player.
He’s on a par with Hall in my opinion if not ahead.
It’s ironic we are getting slated for some fans for swapping a fist team player for a reserve team player…when what is actually happening is we are getting a player who goes into our first team and Hull are getting a player who joins their reserves unless they get injuries in the centre.

| It's no so much signing Dagger, I don't know enough about him to judge him, but losing Hall is a blow to me. OK he hasn't set the world on fire this season so far, but who in the team has?
It doesn't mean he's lost all the ability he showed last years.
I wouldn't have cared as much if a cash adjustment came out way but as it is HKR have got some of our young talent again at a bargain price. They must have a grin as wide as the Humber estuary.

Just what I was thinking, jonh....Max has played 6 before and done quite a good job IIRC, so if Smith doesn't cut the mustard there, then at least we have another attacking option when Max does come back

Smith will not get a go at six until Gaskell is injured again ,. Said in a post that max should play 6 but will not ,for same reason as Smith

| For all we know, this 'deal' may well save the club.
I don't like that we had to do it and different decisions in the past may have avoided it but we are where we are.
No one liked it when Spencer and Lyons went to Leeds but that deal absolutely saved us.
I almost don't care how many Sts beat us by if they do. I want the game to be used as prep for the attack against Cas. We have to win that game and we wouldn't have won it without a fullback. We need to give him all the opportunity he needs to gel with the team.

When Spencer went to Leeds we got 5 players for him .Including one of the best centres we have ever had at the club Toppo did us proud with that deal

But none were wanted at Leeds.
They got Spencer and Lyons
We got Rayne, Fox, Mason and Conway. All in Leeds opinion not worthy of first team rugby.
As you say, best deal ever, but no-one wanted to lose Spencer or Lyons. They were young and the best players we had.

That was a genius deal iirc. Keith Rayne, Andy Mason, Mark Conway, Phil Fox.
Andy Mason was my favourite player. Also, remember those forward passes that Conway used to fire out to Fox on the left wing? Marvellous.
Made watching Trinity good again after some fallow years in the 1980's.
And we got Spenner back a few years later for peanuts.

| The club’s lack of foresight has cost us one of our most promising players. It was obvious to the majority that we had not got adequate cover for fullback except using Gaskell. We had one lined up who had proved himself in the RWB but no we needed another forward.
I can say without doubt that whoever negotiated the deal with Hull KR was a godsend to them, I bet they couldn’t believe their luck a possible future star for their third choice fullback and no money. We are lucky because if we had more like Hall in our squad other clubs would be beating a track to our door looking for similar deals.

And of course everyones favourite player agent Mr Harrison got a payday out of it.

And we got one from Huddersfield and one from Wigan.
But a full back was needed far more than a forward imho.
