| Part of me wonders if they even want sport in the Wakefield District at all, to be honest - unless it's privatized. Closing of pay as you play council run sport and golf courses, fishing, tennis courts etc. I know this is part of the budget cuts, but with the community stadium fiasco aswell as the loss of the districts other sporting teams over the years - it makes you wonder.

But if it's the best way to secure a stadium, you do it, because the best way is the best way. Why would you adopt a way that is less likely to achieve what you want?
It's also noting that even if it was exclusively ours, we'd probably let Wakefield United play there anyway. If you'd watched the Saints game on Friday, you'll have noticed football markings. Football teams have used Belle Vue before. It really is a non-point.

No offence, but you are talking out of the thing you sit on.
The "Community Stadium" is exactly that. There would be other facilities there that can be used by everyone - your blinkered view of "It should belong to Wakefield Trinity" is short sighted and quite frankly - embarassing.
It would also generate revenue streams from all the facilities at the stadium site and may generate further interest in our proud club with further fans coming through the gate.

I have to say, apart from signing the petition, going to one hearing and talking about it here I have done nothing to help.
Can I still go watch Trinity if they eventually get this stadium?
I'm assuming you have been much more active than me considering you are designated bouncer for anyone else wanting to use it?

No one just steps in. The stadium will be run by the Trustees. Any other sports organisation, private functions etc, would pay the stadium trust for use of the stadium and it’s facilities. The revenue this could generate may be sizeable, and it may well be the reason SRW wants to set up a rival trust. Sometimes the £ signs bring in a lot of undesirable attention.

Again you fail to grasp what's happened whilst spouting about an issue you clearly have no knowledge of - the Trust is nothing to do with Wakefield Trinity and it hasn't been around for 15 years. One of the Trusts most acting and long serving members Johnathon Stone isn't a Wakefield Trinity fan, not sure but may not even originate from Wakefield. He like numerous others who have supported the campaign has no affiliation with Trinity, some don't even have a connection with RL.
The trust is there to get a COMMUNITY stadium and other facilities for all WMDC. Trinity's involvement is that they ill be the anchor tenant, without Trinity there is no reason to build the stadium element of the build, that is why MC gets involved but he isn't the driving force he's just part of the greater scheme. Of course the club is heavily involved in the consultation but the Trust calls the shots politically.
Anyway how do you know Wakefield United which I'm guessing is what used to be Emley FC have not been lobbying on the stadiums behalf? Sheer numbers means Trinity get all the headlines but loads have supported the deal. I'm sure they will be delighted by your petty insular mentality.
Get real.

I'm still staggered that someone would reject support for the Stadium no matter where it came from - I'm truly stunned even for this forum.

I've got a funny feeling they are being set up specifically if you get my drift.

Good luck to them hope they have a good go of it, always thought the people who merged Ossett Albion & Town would have tried for a team in Wakefield. Anyway way hope Wakefield United are a success might pop down to a few games. One thing is football teams have access to lots of grants and funding which would be a good thing for the community stadium especially with the asylum seekers link.

Working closely with the council eh? Sadly I don't think that means they will move one jot towards funding the community stadium which would've meant they got the planning they crave last week. The fact they've not appealed it yet shows they don't fancy this been dragged through court despite theirs and WMDC's protestations that the Kitwave development should be a stand alone application. It clearly isn't.

Indeed.
Many people who claim expert knowledge on here have continually stated that we ha no legal case and in their magnificent opinions should give up - don’t you just love them.
Well I always thought we had a case and luckily for us a group of brilliant people most notably IA, TRB and Sandal had the backbones to carry on - salute them!
Now let’s rally behind them and support them whenever they require it - the battle is far from over but there is no doubt in my mind that we’ve gained our first win against a truly vile enemy.
Let’s hope we the team produce even more this year - let’s win something and see if Box can ignore that.
Can you imagine us winning the CCup and Box going onto the Town hall balcony to congratulate the team and the response he will get? I guarantee you he has and he won’t like it. Tragic though it is it’s things like this that get to shallow politicians like box and sadly this is far more likely to kick him into action than any sence of decency.
If we ever needed a wonder season this is it - fingers crossed.
