| Not to knock Lynne but my biggest question is why did we sign him I feel we MUST look to our own academy more than we are doing. Last year Kay looked just as good if not better than Lynne, Jowitt played very well at Hunslet and is probably worth a run in the first team, Cowling could probably have done a similar job to Lynne. And then there's Walshaw...... Might not have pace but I'd love to see any 3/4 line stop him in full flight. To me Wakefield's biggest fault is not trusting our academy lads more, and its was a failing of more of our coaches than just Agar. If we're bringing in players they must be clearly better than those we have, or can those in our academy.

| Quote: try scorer "Hull didn't want him cos he was soft , if your soft at 18 never mind 21 youl always be soft , sorry he looks the part but he's in the wrong game ,young lads who make mistakes can put it down to inexperiance and learn from them when you make the same mistakes constantly all to do with courage you've got a problem'"
You baffle me Tryscorer.
You go on about coaching and working with young ones but this one you think is soft so bin him.
In my opinion, when you are young you can learn to be brave. Experience teaches you that.
I didn't like him at centre because he didn't have the skills but at wing he looks ok.
He isn't shy about taking the ball up so he isn't a coward.

I remember David Finch signing for Wakefield as a winger... Big lad but didn't handle the transition to the pro game... Accused of being a bit of a soft lad... Went back to amateur (nor my it think) bulked and moved into the forwards... He was picked up by Cas an became an international second row...

| As I've said before pop tart reading your posts your a smashing bloke willing to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and I really do respect you for that but I don't agree with your view, a kid growing up can learn to be brave ,can realize he's got courage but this his a grown man if he's iffy now he'll always be iffy my personal opinion

I understand where your coming from but it doesn't stop him being tough enough to play the game, its all down to the personality of the player some shy away from conflict others look for it

| As a soft tw@ I'd say any player that plays rugby league at Super league level has a great amount of heart, I think they're barmy playing the game personally!

I do get the grown man part. Some people certainly don't have it in them but there are those that find a way to cope as well.
My own example. When I played rugby union as an adult I would regard myself as brave, and braver than most.
When I started playing (I played league when I was younger but started playing Union in late 20s) I was kind of nervous about rucks and loss play. I didn't really understand what was going on and it was all boots.
I was brave enough to tackle anyone, and fight anyone if it came to it but falling on the ball or going to ground I always seemed to hesitate
I damaged my knee when trying to kick a ball on the ground rather than falling on it. Someone else braver than me did and took my knee with it.
When i recovered a year later my friend spoke to me and told me he'd seen me do this again since I'd come back.
I can remember the game when i first dived on a loose ball. Turned out to not be so bad after all. I then noticed that being brave in taht situation usually puts others off as well so gave me even more confidence. By the end of that season i was fearless and dominated rucks and loose play.
It was a big turn around for me and what could have been seen as a lack of bottle was simply confidence and technique.
So again, you may be right in this case, but as a coach I hope someone works on his confidence and technique to see if it can be improved.
Lyne doesn't lack guts when he has ball in hand. Catching and tackle tecnique can be improved. That is where Agar should earn his corn.
And what's with the compliments? You been drinking

| Lynne seemed to play alright looking at the highlights. Just another wakey scapegoat along with Mathers to have a dig at when things are looking pear shaped. Give em a break

Hi Jizzer. I was at the game and thought Lyne was okay in attack. I thought he was weak in defence. Often caught ball watching and not able to anticipate what was happening around him.
I'm not sure if he is low on confidence and needs an arm around the shoulder? Either way I think he and Agar know where he should be putting extra effort in this week in training.

What you mean being hopelessly out of position for Wigans first try, dropping a high ball into the arms of the opposing winger to score and managing to miss a tackle three times in the same play leading to him being carried over the line for their teenage winger to score is playing alright? Are you Richard Agar?
The lad has pace for sure but thats about it i'm afraid, he certainly has no game awareness and poor handling skills. Does he lack confidence? Yes probably but continually producing below standard performances is to blame for that. The lad just ain't good enough at the present time. With the pace and size he has put on he should be but there is no progress being made in his performances and that is probably down to have being coached by Agar for most of his adult career. But he is only 21 and he looks like he could do with a spell at a lower divison club to learn the intricacies of the game and work on his core skills away from so many prying eyes. Maybe then the belief would come and the ability shown will match the atributes he has.
