Quote: Khlav Kalash "Making the most of the mobile phone culture could be an avenue to go down. A reverse auction for example, buy something like an IPAD for £500 and on game day announce whoever texts the lowest unique bid wins the prize, announce it during the match and you’ve got a five to eight thousand captive audience, if everyone text in you could be looking at (say £2 a text) £10K – 16K per home match. Best case scenario would be a circa £200k windfall over the course of the season all for the expense of setting up the number (which I have no idea of the costs) and the expense of the technology (which would be circa £6500 if bought alone without the subsidy of a sponsor (Currys/PC World).

Granted this is not much use in the short term , but looking ahead....'"

That, my friend, is a bloody good idea that could be implemented with very little cost/effort; a different but similar prize at every home game and at the last home game of the season, something MAHOOSIVE.

Well done that man.

I don't know how well it could be marketed but, with both ourselves and Bradford (alleged) in difficulties, a game between the 2 clubs seems like a good idea ?
Obviously, players are now flying off on holls and some will be involved in the World Cup but, can something be done ?
(preferably while we still have enough players to make up a team !)
Both clubs could use the occasion a vehicle to sell season tickets, merchandise etc and if we involve some youngsters, why not promote the 1873 club.

See if any famous Aussie/New Zealand ex-Wakefield players like Ray Price/Wally Lewis/Solomona/Mark Graham are coming over for the World Cup and see if a number plus local old Trinity legends will do a free 'evening with' talk at the Wildcats Bar.

The tickets for which could be charged at £30 per head with a memorabelia raffle for all funds going to the Wildcats? a046.gif

Hi.
I'm new to to site but after supporting Wakefield for around 50 years felt I should join given present issues and hope these suggestions may help.
Two things. Firstly phone text donations. Like competitions on tv a standard charge plus amount (50p/£1) and you don't even have to go anywhere do it
Secondly. Why not donate the pennies from your pay. This means the most will be 99p and minimum 1p and its something we did at work for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. A regular income for the club and who would miss this.

I do believe we will get through this but only if we all do a bit and not leave it to others so I will keep reading and if I can do anything to help will give my support.

Fundraising activities can be costly in terms of time and money. But there are easy, low cost fundraising methods that require little effort or cash outlay to get a fundraising ball rolling.

Tools Required When Starting a Fundraiser
The internet, although not essential, is one of the best tools available in order to reach an audience and receive donations. The fundraising activity and advertising using the internet are two of the main parts of a fundraiser, and these can cost nothing to implement.
Using Internet Based Fundraising Tools
Almost all of the fundraising tools that are available via the internet are free to use. Social networking sites are an invaluable tool for publicising a fundraising event and can attract a huge donator audience. Fundraising for a particular charity or good cause will mean that help is available with fundraising tools such as donation facilities via email and text. Individuals and groups can set up their fundraising pages for free with major companies such as Virgin Money Giving and British Telecom. Companies such as Virgin and BT do provide step by step fundraising help via their websites.

Choosing a Low or No Cost Fundraising Activity
The most popular low cost fundraisers are usually sponsored sports activities. Sponsored sports activities can be held throughout the year in the UK; indoor sporting events are an option during the winter months. Sponsored sports events that involve the local community are a good idea as they bring donators together with the focus on health related activities. Other low and no cost fundraising activities can include:
Quiz nights held in local venues such as pubs and church halls
Donations of goods that can be sold or raffled with proceeds going to charity
Race nights held in pubs and local clubs
Music events with local bands playing one off gigs with proceeds going to charity
Local dance clubs such as line-dancing holding monthly events with proceeds going to different charitable causes
Bingo nights, dinner dances and coffee mornings held at local venues
Sponsored sports such as cycling, swimming, running, walking and jogging are extremely popular

I suppose the problem will be sorting out what fundraising will raise the most cash quickly, loads of great ideas on here but you can't run with them all.

While theres nothing to stop individuals say doing a race night or some other event maybe it would be better run through a fundraising type group.

Pull it all together rather than splinter events.

Just a thought.

Are we a charity though? It could be donated to whichever Trust is linked to the club, but should those funds go towards rescuing a failed business. It's a difficult conundrum.

There's plenty we can do without muddying the waters in that direction. Loads of great ideas on here.

I think the challenge is to make the club centre of the community even though it is not the geographic centre for most/many.
There is a huge interest in the club but most of it is in a negative/distrustful way.
How many people pass by the ground on a daily basis (going to and from wakefield, featherstone, castleford, pontefract, doncaster etc.) and rarely give it a second glance.

I have an idea what would raise £15,000 to £20,000 a year but its not something that can be undertaken right now but if someone from the club wants to get in touch then feel free to do so.

I wont hold my breath as i'm still waiting to here back from a meeting I had regarding some sponsorship in June.

Don't be down beat!

Start to breathe again and instead of waiting for a call back, keep ringing the club until you speak to someone - Hoppo, MC or Foz - keep trying!

That's a lot of money the club could use now & every year.

Not having a go but please keep plugging away.
