| Quote: Neville Bartos "Completely one-eyed post.
Oh well, I hope Peter Gentle makes loads of rubbish recruitment choices and gets the side to perform inconsistantly then we may get to some finals again.
I would hate it if he made a really good side on paper and consistantly settled for mediocrity. Like the Great bloke/great coach that is Richard Agar.
Seriously Agar should be on the telly doing mind control tricks on the streets of Hull/Wakefield
He has never in any way shape or form proved that he is a coach of super league quality

| Quote: Standee "you're wrong there, we were excited by the change of owner because we were confident it would lead to a change in coach, which it has.
Agar has been a spectacular failiure at Hull, coming out and saying "the race for 8th is exciting" was criminal, and phrases like "we need to raise us bar" simply made him look a bit foolish.
He's a good caoch (as has been said) and if he has the right support around him he will improve your league position in the comnig years, but remember, we paid a fee for Westerman and Obst, who have both made big contributions to us finishing anywhere near the playoffs, he has signed players on big money (O'Meley,Berrigan,Fitzgibbon,Long) and I don't think he'll have that kind of cash available at Wakefield.
His short term recruitment will give you an indication of what you can expect next season, hopefully you'll do well and start climbing the league, but the new stadium is key to you really ever being successful in SL.'"
As I alluded to, the new regime has facilitated big changes at the club, if Kath & Co were still at the helm then, so would Agar.
Whilst many have spouted their vitriol regarding Agar, not many have pointed a finger at the Board. Let’s be fair, with the support the club gets you should be up there with the Wigan’s, St’s & Warringtons of this world. The majority of Hull fans believe Agar is the single handed reason for the lack of success, only time will tell, however, player recruitment isn’t always just down to the Coach.
You’ve gone from Aussies, to Brits & probably back to another Aussie, but the limited success (by your aspirations) isn’t all down to one man.

| Whatever we Hull fans thought of him, I think you are getting a better coach then the one who is leaving you.
Good luck to him and you next year (with the exception of 2 games )

| I'm feeling much more optimistic about the appointment than I thought I would and the more one-eyed Hull idiots who post their daft opinions, the better I feel.
On balance, Agar was not the HC most of us hoped for, but we've appointed the best man who was available - I'm ok with that.
All that remains is for us all to buy a cheap ST - I'll be getting three this weekend - and to get behind the bloke for next season; perhaps without the Hull faithful baying for his blood and without Kath Hetherington interfering, he'll do ok for us.

| I seem to sense that the majority of Wakefield fans on here are accepting Agar as he probably was the best candidate available to us. I have one question to the ones who are not going to buy season tickets or even watch us next season:
Who did you want as Head Coach ?

We made the grand final in 2006, Agar took over in May 2008 when we were well and truly in decline. In 2008 we were far from a 'top side' and we got to the CC final after avoiding other top teams on our way there.
To give a similar example - Leeds won the GF three years in a row and were a 'top side'. Since then they have gone downhill and despite reaching the CC Final this year, I would not consider them a 'top side' at the moment.

I know its each to their own, but we have;
- A new owner (for pre season)
- Got a Franchise
- Cheap season ticket offers
- Players coming into the squad with quality behind them.
- And the Re-developement of Belle Vue
and you're turning your back on the club because of the appointment of Richard Agar?
Personally i think you're being slightly judgemental of Agar before hes even coached a game with us.

No need for insults bud, although we must have been one eyed idiots for paying to watch the last 4 years.
Agar will probably perform better at your club, who knows?.Me ,I am glad he has gone.
It may be a daft opinion, but when I pay £22 I at least want to see some entertaining rugby.

I'm only insulting those people who are coming here to engage in silly, one-eyed gloating.
Don't get me started on how it feels having paid to watch 80 minutes of dross week in week out - I'm a Wakey fan, I've walked that walk.

Not the fans 1st choice, and not a brill track record at Hull, but we have to judge him on merit, if after 5 games into next season and we are bottom we can then say "told you so", Personally can't see him lasting 3 years, a lot will be expected of him with the players we are recruiting, Anyway Welcome to Wakefield Richard and i hope you prove the doubters wrong

Very good post DA. You are probably right in your assumption that Agar would still be at Hull next season if a change of board never happened. Agar was one of many problems within the club and the board were happy with mediocrity as long as the cash still come tumbling in. Agar takes the brunt of the blame for the simple reason that everyone could see were we were going wrong on the pitch yet he never did anything to rectify it. He has a habit of sticking with tried/tested and failed partnerships rather than try something different. He is not solely to blame but he does have to take a large chunk of the blame at the same time.
I hope he goes well for you lot and a change of club and board may well help him to achieve that. You have had enough recently you deserve a break and some good fortune.
