Quote: Inflatable_Armadillo "Interesting viewpoint and not one that is shared by the gossip in development & construction circles. As far as the local gossip goes, Newmarket is favourite to get the nod, for a whole host of reasons, money being the biggest one! I also feel, as do others I speak to, that the likely hood of it getting to a public enquiry look ever slimmer under the new coalition government. I understand that the new Tory MP for Rothwell & Elmet might possibly have been 'advised' to keep his head down and mouth shut from now on.

The Newmarket development WILL go ahead, with or without the ground, it could happen quickly if the ground deal sticks, and it will probably happen a little more slowly if it falls through. Even if it does end up at a public enquiry, I think will almost certainly get the go ahead, once again for a whole host of reason, but in the main because it stacks up and the current NIMBY's have little in the way of valid counter argument to the scheme.

In summary, Cas have an outline planning permission and not much else, the Newmarket scheme has everything else (in place) accept a planning permission... and it will get that eventually, with or without a ground!'"

I always enjoy it when Inflatable_Armadillo pops over to give the situation some perspective.

How ironic will it be if some of these Cas fans extolling the virtues if a ground share now that it's fundamental to the success of their project, suddenly find out that Newmarket is preferred and they will have to move.

I read the front page of the Ponte and Cas rag in Asda, and Richard Wright does NOT seem to me to be brimming with confidence!

Personally I would rather wait till Gaslight has had chance to digest it and come back with his unreasoned response plus facts and figures icon_lol.gif

Quote: ambernotyeller "And you are failing to see my point, you want it in your back yard and the rest can go to hell, well it may surprise you to find that Cas supporters want it in their back yard too.

Lets look at a typical matchday in the future, arrive at exscape have a wander round and a few pints before the game, watch the game in a purpose built stadium, out for a bit of something to eat at ione of the many food outlets and a bit of shopping to pacify the mrs then on to the train for the journey home, as opposed to turn up, show the family round the industrial units and mebbe a burger at the van, watch the game in a purpose built stadium , out for another look at the warehouse then into the car for the drive home.

I think you will find , visiting supporters would prefer the first option

It really is a no brainer isnt it ????

you cant beat a day out with the family looking at industrial units can you .......... nosirree'"

would Bradford move to Halifax or Leeds would Sts move to Wigan and would Cas move to Wakefield ???

What really ps me off is when you look at Morecambe, Chesterfield, Oxford, Doncaster, Brighton, etc all small clubs who are getting new stadiums how do they do it
When I started watching Wakey in 75 there was talk of developing Belle Vue all we did over the next 7 years was lose 2 stands then do bugger all for the next 30 years only talk of development or a move Denby Dale Road , Pugneys, Stanley, Ossett etc etc farce after farce

Quote: Gaslight "Cas also have enough money to build a phased stadium, council money delivers the full stadium.

You could have built 2 stadiums the time you have spent telling everybody and their dog Cas have the money, and now you are saying that they have enough money to build half a one but you are waiting for a leg up with the council to build a full stadium, have a word with yourself

icon_rolleyes.gif I dont have a clue as to what you are refering to tbh, please feel free to put the whole post up. I think it must be a Cas fan what has hacked into my account because all Wakey fans went to school and certainly know how to spell it, where on the other hand Cas fans - school not so sure icon_lol.gif

btw I noticed you chose to ignore my last post mmm eusa_think.gif cant think why though icon_lol.gif

A phased stadium shouldn't be acceptable for the new licences... Halifax's ground was in the state of a 'phased' stadium when they ran out of money to complete their ground. They weren't considered to have a SL standard ground at the time.
