| I'd suggest that it's something to be decided by the clubs, don't think it's a Super league rule that you can't play against your parent club, more a case of not wanting the loaned out player coming back and biting you on the a$se!!!

| And we according to some will be paying some of Cookes wage, if that is the case he won't be playing against us

You wont be paying all of his wages or there is no point loaning him out in the first place.
It may well be around half each or a slightly larger portion paid by Trinity !

Who mentioned paying all of his wage?
They have Newtons wage spare, i assume he will take that and we will make up the shortfall. A small price to pay to get rid

That seems a bit harsh though. As a fan surely you liked having him in the squad just as back up if needed and to win you the local derby matches !

I agree with this.
He could be a very good signing for us and like someone else posted he would have bene my preferance over Newton at the start of the season.

I disagree with this.
I've never liked Newton, but I'd have Newton in my team over Cooke any day.

| Apologies if this has already been said but this signing smacks of Jules O'neill... and look how that worked out for us.

Right, let's have a reality check....
How many clubs has Cooke been at? How many has he been dismissed from? Have any of us met him, or know anything about him - other than the stuff we read in the papers or on here?
Like any of us, Paul will have his own side to the story and it may well not be as one sided as some of us seem to think, or at least it's easier for us to think!
The management at Wakefield think they can control him, use him and get the best out of him. They believe that we will be a better side with him - and that's good enough for me.
Terry Newton won over everyone at Wakefield. To a man / woman every person who met him thought him pleasant, charming and down to earth. He did a bad thing, possibly no worse than many others have done, but he was really looking forward to getting stuck in and playing for us. Paul Cooke is very similar - he wants to come and play for us; he wants to play under John Kear and he has already turned around the opinion of those who have met him.
Please keep an open mind - at least to start with!
