I very much doubt any coach could have done much better with last years playing personnel .
In many ways MA was thrown under a bus.

I think he was out his depth with us last season but was dealt a poor hand in terms of the squad he had. I do think York is a good opportunity for him where he stands more of a chance.

Totally agree with others, Mash stood up to coach his home town club. However he got dealt a very poor squad and was on a hiding to nothing from day one. I hope the bloke is successful at York

TBF he knew from day one that there was no cash, it wasn't hidden from him. He took a gamble and I admire that.

Also, it's worth noting that despite the criticism he got, he very nearly pulled it off, there was a brief moment when it looked possible - not many relegated coaches can say that.

I reckon there is a very good coach in that lad, certainly a SL assistant in a few years time.

I still reckon that the dropped ball by Lineham against Cas ultimately cost us our super league place. But we would be struggling at the foot again, even with Matt Ellis in charge, so no complaints from me.
