Isn't Kirmo too, coming on board into the coaching staff.
Him and Long, working as assistants to a much more experienced coach could be a half decent coaching set up.
Maybe too, see if Applegarth would be interested in taking his old role with the kids, though that ship may well have sailed

Vastly different relative squad quality, but regardless its woeth a shot. It's not working with Mash and there has never been any signs of improvement in the squad or team play. The wins look like outliers rather than the culmination of work done on the training field. |

Salford A - Winnable. Beaten once and came very close to beating twice, only losing in golden point.
Saints H - Winnable. Always seem to do well at home against Saints and have had some good recent results.
Catalans H - Can't see anything coming from this game other than a major suffering of our points difference.
Leigh A - No chance.
Hull KR H - Winnable. I think Hull KR's season might now slowly fizzle out after the cup defeat.'"
Really? In the last 10 years you've recorded just one home win against Saints with 8 defeats in that time. |

He was rescued by Ford leaving and Gale coming in, because then there was an upturn that coincided with Cas's downturn.
I'm not sure I'd get rid now. Just let Long take some of the pressure off. I can imagine Long will be fun to play under, and sometimes players just need to rediscover their zip.
One Aussie assistant who seems to be doing well is Lee Briers. I'm surprised Warrington didn't go in for him. He's the Brisbane attack coach, and they have the best and most exciting attack in the NRL (helped by having an experienced half-back surrounded by a young squad).
Dare I say that Richard Agar seems to be doing well at New Zealand Warriors, who are the surprise package this year, but I reckon he prefers being an assistant to being a head coach. Looking back now, the days of Richard Agar are halcyon days.
