Sad news, a great coach. RIP Shane

R I P Shane. Condolences to his family.

Was he the Coach who kept us in S L when we bet Salford away, and when on players shoulders stuck two fingers up at S L who had tried every thing to get us relegated .Went on to Coach in football was that Bradford ? A Great guy and a sad loss, thoughs with family

I believe that was John Harbin, if memory serves me correctly, another great coach for us, and good bloke off the pitch too.

Shane was the one that took us to the play offs for the first time, during the super league era.

It was a great season, it wasn't just about winning the games, it was the manner of some of those victories.

2004 was my favourite season watching Wakefield. That night at Hull in the play-offs.

Thats correct, that as the best season ever in SL in my opinion. Shane was coach and we had that great conditioner, Geoff Evans ? Shane also won SL coach of the year that season I seem to remember. Only Trinity coach able to achieve that award.

Surely Evans had gone by then?

Memory can play tricks , but I thought Shane had Evans for his first full season. Then Shane brought in Adam Trypass in the close season to replace him. Proved to be a disaster and think Shane got the sack towards the end of the same season. However I stand to be corrected

Trypass just looked so out of condition himself that it seemed ludicrous to expect him to instruct and motivate the team.

This is correct, Evans went to Huddersfield at the end of the 2004 season. Trypass replaced him and was way out of his depth.
