| Just been reading up on these Vastman, yes this would be a much cheaper option and could work, although not sure of the viabilty of it as being a permanent solution, though at the moment, it looks like the only solution.
Not sure as to whether or not the RFL would buy into it, and can imagine some of the comments from our great friends over the common, especially with their new stadium being approved. Out of curiosity, has the building work on this started as yet?
One cost to consider, stating that the stands and seating are temporary, and can be removed, there would be contractor costs.
Should Newmarket ever happen, or any other site for that matter, and as the stands are classed as temporary. perhaps parts of it could be transported to the new site, which then would reduce the cost of a new stadium.
In the short term, this could be a better alternative to Dewsbury

As regards the RFL they had no issues when London were at Harlequins which was at the time half temporary seating and nowhere near as sophisticated as this. So long as it passes all safety criteria etc they won't care, especially as the suff I'm talking about will be indistinguishable from permanent structure on TV.
I'm sure some reciprocal deal could be done with a supplier where they maintain and erect at BV in return for use of our gear for rental when we are not using it. I know that's a bit vague but you get the idea.
Very good point about N/M never thought of that.

Oh and for me the best place for something like what vastman proposes….
I always thought that would be a good spot, but it's houses now

| Another area close to the town centre which I'd have thought would be possible is Silcoates School. They have loads of land which is already used for sports (around 10 full size rugby pitches) and access is quite good. I'd hazard a guess that for the right price and useage deal they'd entertain the idea of having a 10k stadium in their grounds (think of the bragging rights!)

I can't see that tbh. I think the best option would be a council owned piece of land for various reasons, not least they owe it us. This way they can lease us some land at a cheap rate without having to invest in it or sell and thus circumvent any opposition. Technically the land will remain council owned, untouched and available.

Yes even the fencing can be temporary!
As it is at concerts etc though clearly permanent would be better in certain areas.

Sorry mate, they have 4 rugby pitches, 2 of which are full size plus, an all weather surface but, I dont think you have a cat in hell chance of anything there, unless the school was to shut down.
Trinity certainly had a good relationship with the school though and used to train there sometimes, I dont know if that is still the case.
Going back to available land, surely Newmarket has a spot of land available, there was a time when there was going to be a community stadium and other facilities built there
Even a cash strapped council and developer couldn't wriggle out of the piece of land ?

Indeed, my apologies, they do only have 4 (+ some other fields and the all-weather hockey pitch), but they wouldn't be losing any sports pitches by putting this on, they would gain a stadium around one of their pitches which they could use for their own events throughout the year. The school also isn't averse to selling off land to gain sporting facilities. I'm not saying it's ideal, but it'd certainly be an avenue worth exploring with either of the private schools in the city. It's mutually beneficial for the club and school so funding it may be easier

Sorry but he can and he will. The stadium land at Newmarket is not owned and never has been owned by the developer, it belongs to a local farmer. As far as we know the developer has an option on it but no one is party to the details. However both will want far more than we can afford.
For Vastys plan to happen we need cheap land and the only way I can see to get that is for the council to let us have use of a couple of sports fields somewhere.
Just as an aside ,anyone know about the playing field just off Horbury Road,Lupst, that would be ideal

| Just as a further thought on this but looking at the wider RL picture than just ourselves.
If this idea is viable, could this be a way forward for other clubs that have recently had ground issues, such as Sheffield and York.

Quite so, it's a full stadium at around 1/4 the cost of a conventional construction. They do still cost something though and it would rely on the goodwill of the council to gift some land (or lease it for peanuts)

Is that getting houses put on it? I know somewhere around there is. That would be a great spot though as it's next to (and near other) council run sports facilities.
