| Cant see what the fuss is about here.
Every good captain knows how to "play" the ref.
Whether this helps their team is another question and it's up to the all officials not to get intimidated or influenced by players.
As for Gale, he should have been the GB scrum half ahead of Smith, all day long and has an excellent rugby brain.
As for the hair style, it's probably a fair swap for his RL attributes but, it's a close run thing

| I'll give you a bit of inside info that will really float your boat.
Denny Solomona has a few wonky teeth - don't mention it to him though because he gets a bit embarrassed.

| A couple of dregs crawling out of the sewer I see.
In all seriousness, wasn't Gale the captain? Therefore can't Captains approach the ref? I wish ours did more often.

| Personally I'm not a big fan of how players approach the ref these days, captain or not, and Gale falls into the category of it being a bit of a whinge rather than asking for clarification. As good as he has been for Cas I still can't really take to him; he's "too Leeds" for my liking!

Of course the captain can approach the referee, but it was every decision that Hewer made. He wouldn't leave him alone and chased him all over the field. Even when Hewer had made his final decision he still carried on nagging the guy. He was embarrassing!!

Yes - got to agree with that. I'll have a word with him next time I see him. I'll tell him his comb-over is upsetting a few Wakey fans.

| Perfectly reasonable for the Captain to speak to the ref in my view - but it is annoying to see any player moaning and yelling at the official; that said, the ref has the authority to deal with that kind of behaviour, so if he chooses not to, he only has himself to blame. I don't like to use Robert Hicks as an example of good practice, but he dealt fairly robustly at the weekend, when a Leigh player started the game by yelling at him over every decision - so it can be done.
As for his hairdo - no middle aged man should mock that affliction; it comes to us all, and is just one of the cruel blows dealt to men by nature as the years advance; women have it comparatively easy I'd say.

| All this has nothing to do with Gale and everything to do with the spineless individuals and their bosses who now run this game. It's up to the Ref to penalise players who abuse him or don't respect his rulings - the sanctions are there, but most refs just seem to want to be the players "mates" especially if those players are a bit famous.
It's on'y a matter of time before the Refs starter asking players for selfies.
