I've just been out on my bike & rode down the canal at Stanley ferry - certainly can't miss the bloody thing....makes you feel slightly sorry for the nimby's

Ha ha, I wouldn't mind betting that Newcold will have their name on it in letters ten feet high in the hope that people will keep noticing it.

These images make me sick. If there's no stadium built there they can stick Newmarket Lane where the sun don't shine.

Noticed it for the first time last week, looks a real eyesore. Still don't know how that can be completely seperate to the main development.

It was submitted as a new application on a site now removed from GB as a result of the LDF. The council maintain that they could not apply the conditions of the original application to this site, but someone conveniently allowed us all to believe that this was contributing around 60% of the B8 space towards the target to trigger the stadium. The principal now is whether ALL future B8 applications will be separate and if any will contribute. This is what we are working on - one strand of it.

Politically - how can the council justify that thing with nothing in return for our City??? Its not what we signed up for!

I too feel sorry for the locals.

I dont understand why after all the confident statements about the development being linked to the ground then this happens.

I asume they are banking on it generating jobs.

The Newcold development does have some positives that we must mention if, as we still hope, we can build a brand new stadium at Newmarket. The new signal controlled junction and road into the site is about to start (signs have gone up saying the junction work will start in October for 26 weeks) and that was always something that had to be done to open up the site. While the next 26 weeks are going to be a general pain for all locals in the area, including me, we will have a new safe junction (this is an accident black-spot and it needed sorting irrespective) and the immediate residents will not have any additional traffic coming past their properties.
