| Not a great loss. Might be replaced in team by someone who gives 100% at RL and not fake tan.

| Bit disappointed with this. One of our best two centres, our best goal kicker and others plenty of versatility. And also by all accounts a popular member of the squad. I hope he is replaced with someone of increased quality and not just a squad filler.

| Quote FickleFingerOfFate="FickleFingerOfFate"Foster could be a good replacement for Smith.
Good finisher who is a very tidy goal kicker.'"
Foster is no way as he as good as Smith. He can only play wing and his defence is shocking.
One of our supporters once summed up foster " He is the only player in SL who has a comb and a mirror
brought on with the kicking tee"

To be fair Lee Smith could only really play centre, cos when he was switched to stand off or fullback it didn't work.
Would rather have a winger that is suspect in defence, than someone in the middle of the park.
We are going to be in a few tight battles this season and a quality goal kicker could be the difference.
Don't want to get stuck like the other season.

Sykes is a good goal kicker. Time for Jimmy Keinhorst to step up and show what he can do.
Lee Smith is a half decent centre and a good goal kicker but if the price is right and we get some decent cover in return......
...The Journal understands Newcastle are in the process of trying to push through a deal for rugby league wing Lee Smith, the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats flyer who has had a previous spell in union with London Wasps.
A three-time Super League winner during his time at Leeds Rhinos and a former England international in the 13-man code, the 27-year-old can play right across the back-line and has averaged almost a try a game at international level after scoring seven times in eight tests.
Also able to kick goals, should the Falcons manage to get his proposed 18-month signing across the line Smith would be available immediately for their Premiership run-in.

He sounds a good buy when it's written down like that - got to be honest , I'm not a fan .. I think he seems to play only when he can be d tbh . Looked good at Leeds before his first stint at RU .

He's a better centre than Keinhorst at this moment in time. We need quality as well, not just quantity. And his kicking percentage last season was better than the ageing Sykes has managed in the previous two seasons. I've no issue with him going if he is replaced by a better player. Just bringing 'cover' in and promoting a guy who could get recalled by Leeds if they have injuries is not going to help us stay up.

| Well past his best when he came to us and hasn't really made much of an effort to improve. Carrying a bit too much weight and lacks his younger days pace but was an excellent goal kicker.
Suppose McShane will kick some goals when he's on but he's another guy who's carrying a hell of a lot of timber!

Although a shadow of his former self, I thought he was one of our few players that performed consistently last season.
I don't get worried if a player seems to be carrying a bit of weight, there's a saying "don't be fooled by the physique" for me the main priority is there fit. Take a look at Wigan fullback matty Bowen for a prime example.

he does have a weird stance and can move to say he's carrying some timber
