| What we were after was a prop - hence the links to Kirke, Mason and Sidlow. What Singleton is, at the moment, is a back-rower - who will probably play prop one day, but was listed at loose-forward yesterday.
Leeds seem to be getting the better of this deal, but then we probably owe them a favour or two as they have been 'generous' to our club over recent years.
I am still of the opinion that we should have kept hold of Matt James until we had a better option. He was big, had a fair few games under his belt, was mature as a prop and looked well in the first team last year. I am saying this to compare him with Singleton, who's CV looks weak in comparison - even though he may well be a great player in the making.

| Quote Mable_Syrup="Mable_Syrup"I didn't think trout did himself any favours yesterday at all. Stepped a few times which led to a couple of tries, dominated when running the ball in, it showed prop isn't his position and he should only be used in a crisis in that position.'"
We all see it differently, I thought Trout made that emergency prop spot his own with an excellent display - much better than Singleton.

Justin Poore has played 20 minutes for WTW and has already out pantomime-villained Ryan Bailey.
Classic Poore - he does what he wants.'"
I think we need more players like Justin Poore in our game and it will be good to see how he goes when he is not getting wound up.
Whilst Bailey did his usual again yesterday it was good to see a bit of biff from your guy.
By the way where do Sandal Spartans play their home games?
I used to watch the Walnut Tree ARLFC play at Sandal many years ago and they had a decent team then.

I don't know about more, but [isome[/i old school front rowers certainly add value from a spectators point of view!
Spartans currently play at West Yorkshire Sports and Social - feel free to pop in next season; all match details are posted on our website.

That's not strictly true - we're also getting cover from a young player who is widely regarded as an excellent prospect; we are getting [isomething[/i out of the arrangement.

| Quote jack in the box="jack in the box"I watched Singleton closely yesterday and also watched our present '5th prop', Kyle trout.
Trout is the better player in my opinion to do the covereing job next season. Ok Singleton my
turn out to be very good oneday but can't see the point of bringing him in on a short term deal
to add a bit of cover.'"
I like you was particulurly looking at Singleton in view of the speculation of him coming to us and I'm afraid I did not see anything from him that was better than what we already have in Kyle Trout or had in Matt James.
He took it up but so did Trout but I thought Trout did a lot more in covering and getting back when we were split. He may be one for the future but I don't see anything better than we already have for cover and it seems to me that Leeds would be getting the better of the deal by us bringing on one of their youngsters whilst it may hold back one of our own.

| On the basis that the club and Mr Agar have said that we are looking at a couple of players in and it seems likely that at least one of these will be a Front Row Forward, then maybe Trout may get pushed down the pecking order, but he will have helped his own cause yesterday regardless of who the new player(s) may be.

We definately do see it all differently.
I thought Singleton was one of the best forwards on the pitch and took some tackling. Glad Poore didn't take his head off with that tackle now! He is only 20 and is 6ft 4 inches tall & 16 stone so could play prop/second row where he has played for Leeds. Look him up.
He will be good value for money I can see why R.A. has gone for him. He will push Mariano & Wilkes for their spots on the bench due to his flexibility & if Washbrook gets injured can go to loose forward as we need Aiton at hooker. He is hopefully a bargain loan signing and what Wakefield need with Mariano, Wilkes, Raleigh and Amor injured. I remember the doubters about Sykes signing last season and look what happened......
I like Trout but thought he didn't have the impact yesterday that Singleton had and is an out and out second row only. Its a long season and we were lucky last season with injuries. He'll get more chances in his natural position.

| Quote Theboyem="Theboyem"Singleton might be a good prospect but for me he isn't what we need. We were obviously looking for an established superleague prop on a permanent contract and ended up with a relatively untried loan signing. All we are doing is help develop him for Leeds as there is no way we will end up with him permanently this time. Sorry but we may as well have kept Matt James.'"
Look what happend to Amor

Most Leeds fans seemed to agree with me, can't say he stood out. However he has potential but that's all, personally I'm with others on here I just don't see what he offers over Trout for example - not at this point in his career anyway. Clearly wasn't what AG was after, seems an odd one.
