| Quote: 18th Man "While I agree that it is a business, the 'employees' are far more than just that, they are the assets too so I would expect to hear an official announcement if something happened such as the former Captain leaving the club, it would be better than reading rumours on here.
Remember, we are living in a world of social media and are encouraged to follow the lives of people we would never normally meet, it's made us nosey!'"
Although they are employees and assets as well, we are not the owners. They are not our employees or assets so have no right to know. Of course we often do we have no right to the information.
And those employees and assets are still people.

Correct, but you can't on the one hand expect people to sign up for club and player Twitter and Facebook updates and then not ask questions when rumours are flying around and nothing is being said. Unfortunately, social media has created a certain level of expectation so it is natural to ask questions.

I have no problem with the questions. Its just that some people think it is their right to know. That's not quite the same thing.

But that's just what they are - rumours. As such I see no reason why any Business would feel the need to respond. If they responded to every rumour on here Elston would spend all day on these forums which would be a ludicrous waste of his time. The club will respond - assuming here is anything to respond to when the time is right for them and Steve Southern.
I get the point regarding social media and I must admit it makes me uneasy the way all clubs use it at the moment - it's a real double edged sword.
We as fans have to accept that WTRLFC is a business owned by one man - not even any shareholders as yet as far as I'm aware - and certainly not a members club which was the last time we the fans had any real right to know. We have to be more realistic and accept this, even though I too would love to know everything that's going on.

I was asking the question as i was under the impression he had picked up an injury whilst playing for the u20's as a overaged player.
I'm more interested in if he is injured as reported or if there is something else going on. Such as a player who when he has been on the field has played well in my opinion, and whether he has gone home because of injury or for another reason.
It was a honest question about a player who i believe when he gets over the injuries he has had this season would be a good grafter for next season should he still be around that was all

Your OP started with a question, which you partly answered, but finished with a demand for the club to give information. You formulated a question out of none information, rumours, and want it answered. As many have pointed out .
I'm of the opinion, like you, that Southern hasn't been allowed to show us his best. However I feel that if he does leave it will give us more flexibility to improve the team and give him the chance to get regularly game time playing the position that suits him best.

| Im yet to be impressed by him more than any of the other players we have and hes out injured acording to form.I will say though that if he was fully fit who would/could you drop out of the 17 to accomodate him at the moment. The side have done well of late and no one deserves to be dropped so if he was fit it would be a case of wait your turn.As for twitter plenty of keyboard warriors on it who would not question face to face.Who knows next season could see him fit and doing a great job as for the club saying something its best just to say nothing at times after all its only a rumour.

| From what little we've seen of Southern he looked like a potentially good signing. But i dont understand why people would go out of their way to grief him on twitter. Its not like the guy didnt try or played particularly bad. Injuries and family troubles are things that cannot be helped and greifing the guy is not going to do him any good at all. Probably the same mindless idiots who were bizarrely boo-ing Tim Smith a few month ago
