Just a question but any chance could be the other way around? Wakey finding it hard to run at SL level and build stadium so offered the RFL an easy option at a price to drop out save money, build ground and come back stronger with fresh investment?

250K for an "easy option"? No, I can't see any chance it could be the other way round.

Unfortunately it wouldnt ruffle any feathers at all, The RFL have an agenda and neither you or us at Cas are welcome at the top table, If they thought they could get away with it, they would relegate both of us this time , but i fear thay will do in phases.

Forcing new grounds on clubs that cant afford it is one way to get rid, by either forcing them out of business or by the club admitting that its just not feasable, unfortunately we both have chairmen prepared to risk the future of our clubs just to stay as makeweights in the bent superleague.

They certainly want one of us out and I do not think they are too bothered which one, unless we both get a high profile backer like Widnes of course. Time will tell I suppose as for the good luck I fear we might need in buckets full.

Not trying to add fuel to the fire and I hope it's all nonsense because it stinks, however a Halifax fan told me over a week ago now that the RFL had offered a 'parachute payment' to Wakey. No sums mentioned.

Was more on basis Wakey think are gone anyway but try to get something out of it by stepping in early? Just speculation of course. If RFL wanted to send Wakefield or anyone else for that matter down they could no problem so why would they hand over 250k for no apparent reason?

If we get a successful outcome next Friday why would we be looking at NL1. If we don't then we probably don't have much of a future and will be gone anyway so why should the RL offer any payment.

If it were true (& IMO I very much doubt it is) an offer of £250k is ridiculous when you consider the handouts the RFL has made in that past to Hull/Gateshead & Sheffield/Hudds each of which was at least a million quid. Add to that the countless attempts of the RFL to make life as difficult as possible for Wakey from a financial pespective when we first got into SL and £250k doesn't come close enough.

I'll indulge whoever started the rumour a little and say that in the event that the RFL want to get Wakey to agree to not having a franchise for 2012-2014 the MINIMUM acceptable offer would be for the RFL to pay WT £3.6m (3 years Sky money), allow WT to retain a SL salary cap & guarantee a franchise from 2015.

As has already been said by others the factor that will have the greatest impact on the club's future comes this from the planning committee this week. If the outcome doesn't go our way then weve got bigger things to worry about than our future in SL.
