Maybe it's just a knock-on effect on one event after another celebrating one player when others have done a lot for the club but haven't had the same treatment - a Martyn Holland say for example? Maybe the choice of words was a bit/very harsh by our friend here!
Personally, I thought the 'Mr. Wakefield Trinity' tag was a tad over the top, but it's all about opinions.
As it is, I'll be working so can't go anyway. And I'm not interested in seeing male strippers!

Well i stand by it, he's been great for the club on and off the field and like ALL the other players mentioned he gave what he could to Trinity.
Not sure why thats happening tbh, thats a strange idea they've come up with.

I agree maybe it wasn't put the best way but the sentiment is the same. Many have given their all for Trinity and over longer periods of time but have left with no more than an announcement over the tannoy at their last game. Still not sure why JD warrants all this fuss but if people wish to support it then fair enough but 'Mr Wakefield Trinity' is taking it a bit far.

It does feel like we've been saying farewell to JD for several months now, so yet another event with a £20 price tag perhaps illicits a less than enthusiastic response from some. I don't think the testimonial is helped either by the truly awful performances we've been subjected to; it seems like we started saying goodbye to JD at about the same time we said goodbye to our season, which hasn't helped his cause - not much of a party atmosphere around BV at the mo!
These things aren't my cup of tea - he did get paid for all the years of service after all. Nontheless, I hope the events have provided a decent financial cushion so he can sort out what to do next, which I guess is the point of a testimonial.

To be fair - and I guess from your tone that fairness is not inyour nature...neither Bell nor Conway can be described as legends of the club... indeed, there were long periods where billy Conway struggled to make the first team selection in a time where the team were far less capable than they are now. And solid player that he was, Nigel never remotely looked like playing representative football.
Jason too is not a legend, but he has been a fine servant and ambassador for our club, and this is a time to hold up the hand and acknowledge that service and say... "thanks Mate!'
true legends of this club are people like Neil Fox, David Topliss, Derek Turner, Billy Stott, Jonty Parkin.... men who reached the pinacle of the sport whilst representing the mighty trin.
so get your head out of your backside, stand up and say thanks Jason, for your hard work, toil, entertainment... and for being a bloody good representative of this club...
good luck for the future mate...

| I disagree there Unerground.
Although I agree with all the legends of the club you name partly because of the level they reached in the sport and partly for what they mean to the club.
In JDs case and in my opinion Belly's case they did not reach the same level in terms of playing at international level but for what they menat to the club at the time they played and the effort they put in, they are legends.......at least fan favourites.

And you could do that at the last home game without paying another £20 for another night out. Sorry, these things just aren't for me. That, and testimonials should only be granted to those who have spent 10 years at one club, otherwise everyone should get one for playing for 10 years!
