| I expected the walkers to be welcomed into the ground for a walk-round salute, like they are at Huddersfield. I just saw one walker looking knackered and Big Al limping around with a bucket in his hand.
Well done to the walkers. Shame the club blew the PR. More importantly, sounds like the club blew the chance for a few extra pennies into the pot.

| Very bad form...just think of the good publicity for the fund with a picture in the Express on Friday of you guys walking round the pitch - from both clubs - and the extra money that may bring in.
We do seem to be going through a run of bad PR stuff at the minute - the way the whole suspension business was handled being another example of this.

| I was amazed too , half time came and not a mention of the walk .
Don't know any of the walkers personally, but recognized a lot of faces of people limping and overheated from the walk - congratulations to all of you who took part , fantastic effort on such a warm day - but once again , shame on you Wakefield , you seem to have really lost the plot lately in the pr department

wonder if he would of been treated the same,
a massive thanks to the guys that organize this is scott, mick and al and they don't get the recollection that they deserve,
today they took this on the chin,
they will be walking back to huddersfield for the away match and I will again join them in this quest'"
and once again Huddersfield will prove they are the better club at organizing events . the walkers last year received a hero's parade.
shame on you Wakefield

Squadbuilder.........building a squad together: |
|
| On behalf of the Adam Watene Fund I would like to say thank you to all who took part in the walk today. I, like everyone else, was expecting you all to walk round the pitch prior to the game and allow all the crowd to show their appreciation...... but I suppose we have to fit all the dancers in.
I will contact the club regarding this. Sometimes we really do shoot ourselves in the foot.

Could have walked around just after young ones who took part in rugby.
Hope you get a reply from the club and see what they have to say.
Big well done to each and every walker today though. Top people

| Suprised the club did not have something on.
John Kear made a specific mention of it a tthe evening with and was very supportive so you would think other members of the club would be aware and wanting to show appreciation

| Can only agree with what's been written on this thread. Not letting the walkers take the plaudits at half time was not only a PR chance missed but an insult to Adam Watene's memory.
Shame on the club.

| I must admit I'm very surprised the club didn't utilize this walk to help Adam's family by allowing a walk around the pitch with a few buckets to collect from the fans. Last season at Huddersfield when we were asked to walk round the Galpharm pitch I was truly choked when we walked towards the Wakey fans who were all on their feet clapping. It made the blisters on my feet less painful. A wasted chance by the club to show how much Adam meant to them. Thanks for the walk though guys, me and my mrs loved it and will do it again on 5th July to hopefully meet some more members on here. Didn't realize i'd been talking to chissit until we'd done about 14 miles

| Quote: snowie "I came away proud of my son,
he wanted to do the walk with and showed some gritsy determination that I didn't know he had, today for me it has been let down, not by the players but the club,
shame on you,
he walked for adam watene, you couldn't even be bothered to greet us all in,
shame on you you,
couldn't even take the effort to organize a walk round and collection before the match or at half time,
I don't want to walk around for the fans to praise us older end but maybe the young lads and lasses that took part deserve that, another opportunity gone to help the fund grow, its like you forgotten but I know that's not true
I'm lost for words and have calmed down from returning home
sorry Al I did tell you when I left that I wasn't happy but its been a privilege to walk with you all'"
I am not going to get into the club business, it may have been an oversight on their part or maybe there is other issuses to address at the club which maybe they feel are more important or maybe they just feel that there were enough responsible people dealing with it who knows.
What I want to say is that young Lewis and the rest of the kids that did the walk yesterday were fantastic walking all that way in the heat, and I am sure that like snowie the parents of them kids are really proud of their achievment. I certainly am

| I thought I must have missed the announcement about the walkers, so couldn't beleive it when I saw this thread. Disgraceful !
I did wonder at full time if the players had walked with you as they certainly played like they had just done a 16 mile hike
Seriously though, well done to everyone, wish I could have joined you xxx
