Thought our forwards were great, especially Atoni and Uele and Griffin. Jerry showing what he can do from 10/20 metres out, no messing about. Thought Lawford was excellent in the halves and Pratt just impresses me every time I watch him.

Loved the new stand, the atmosphere for a friendly I thought was really good. Obviously a shame about the lights but I think we got what we needed out of it and no injuries! Overall a very enjoyable evening.

Poor defensive read for wigans first try , but from then on we matched them in attack and defence , even stopping Mago in his tracks when not so long ago he used to skittle us for fun . That Jerry is going to have a field day on the end of those swooping attacking lines we put on last night ,even without our regular halves on show . Great night , cracking atmosphere , and a good solid hit out again a very good determined side . Said to Powell in the club shop that if he can get our attack going like Cas did in their pomp I’d be a happy man , well looking at last night , it’s on its way, and I for one can’t wait to see them with a few more games under their belt ,it’s going to be a cracker of a season and a breath of fresh air for the long suffering fans

In his interview before the game, Powell was asked what his goals were for the season. He just said "win everything!"
I love that.

And when asked about how he'd approach Wigan he said he respected the team they put out but that we were going after them.

I think getting Powell was a masterstroke.

Surprised at how small Thompson is. I’ve always liked Byrne, think he’s quality.

He seemed to have developed the Richie Myler move of throwing his legs into the air and diving head first in the tackle to win a penalty. He was the best of the Wigan forwards though.

Walters, Wakey can’t win really when playing Wigan last night, Wigan academy this Wigan academy that, bring these young stars through all the time but when they are being bullied it’s their 2nd and 3rd team selections, there was enough quality on paper to push and even beat us but what I saw was a team on the back foot and dominated by Wakey for most of the game , our defence was top drawer and ball movement excellent, looking forward to York next week, bring the season on

Just a minor point and not detracting from the atmosphere last night but if the new stand was a sell out why all the empty seats?

Sat in the east stand you could hardly hear the announcements over the tannoy. Did they announce the attendance?

Usually do that towards end of the game…but last night we didn’t get that far.
