What matters is, will we be in a better or worse place as a result of it?
And to be honest we won't know for certain until the end of next season, if we're not then people making the decisions will rightfully get some stick. If we are these criticisms will be forgotten.'"
I think the point being made isn't about the logic of the deal but the spin being put on why AM left the club. It seems that those in charge knew there'd be a backlash to Murphy leaving and so they've lied about him WANTING to go than them selling him against his wishes.

| There has been talk for sometime of AM receiving a gift of a car from Hudds a while ago, can anyone shed any light on this?

| Quote: wwildcat48 "This is my first post and i will be stating further facts later.
I felt i had to let people know the TRUE story instead of what Elston is stating about trying to keep him. (Total Rubbish - Thats how clubs work make it look like the player has no loyalty even though aaron proved last season he was loyal to the club)
Aaron did NOT want to go he was forced so the club could get a fee.Aaron made it 100% clear he wanted to stay and based on 2 new centres coming in, it was seen as a good bit of business by the club, whilst also getting 2 forwards as part of the deal. Rather than being honest they made it look like it was aaron's wish - It wasnt ! He is going against his wishes.
Tommy Lee has gone to Huddersfield on Agar's insistance because of issues with him at Hull.....and again another huddersfield cast off (Wood) to replace him too. Its a great move for Tommy as he clearly was not going to get a chance with agar based on the past so joining a top 6
club is a bonus for him.
Tongia wont be staying........unbelievably the people running the club could not see his potential last season and failed to offer him a contract prior to other clubs being alerted so he is gone, morro on his way out another cost cutting exercise replced by Hull reject. compare morro to his replacement......what a joke.
Why are the club getting rid of better players and replacing them with Giants cast off's ? its laughable.
Andrew Glover.....great bloke, heart in the club but being advised by the wrong people.
and one last quote based on the above post........under Agar no youngsters will get any gametime next season thats how it is with him. welcome to the Agar Era.......Hull FC cant believe their good fortune.'"
There are many points in this that are untrue. Fact

| Quote: frogcat "sorry poptart but what wildcat 48 is saying is absolutely 100%. i personally know some of the people involved and his post is correct'"
As I've posted what seems like a million times already, it's an error to believe that what players or their WAG's, Dads or favourite Uncles tell you is 100% factual; much like the messages that come out of the club, their version of events is based on their own perceptions, opinions and whatever spin they want to convey when they tell you the story.
In this instance, as in almost every other, I'd suggest that the truth is somewhere in the middle of the various versions of events that people have conveyed; some may not agree with the end result, but it's folly to believe that anyone has acted in anything than their own best interests, and that includes the player, his agent and both of the clubs involved.
What most agree on is that Murphy decided to play out the season with WTW during the infamous 'vulture-gate' episode; good for him, it showed class and loyalty and certainly helped our season be marginally less disastrous than it could have been. The rest we'll never know, as it involves wrangling and negotiations between the player and various stakeholders and is, ultimately, private and confidential; the two clubs and the agent won't talk about the details and for mine, neither should the player or his friends and family - it's a bit sordid and disrespectful.
Going forward, I hope we're in a position to be holding on to promising local players like Murphy but in the meantime, as seems to be the case here, I hope that when they do move on to the bright lights of Uncle Ken's monied emporium, they do so in a way that represents good business for WTW; if we're going to replace the Shudds academy set-up, let's at least make them pay top dollar.

| One scenario that I don't think has been mentioned is as follows and is a possibility.
Huddersfield approached Murphy while we were in administration but due to Salary Cap restrictions could only offer him a relatively small contract so Murph turned them down. However, on the presumption that we were dead in the water and going down murph agreed to join them at the end of the season on a bumper contract thinking that his contarct with us would be null and void. This was going swimmingly until we git a franchise which threw a spanner in the works.
The club knowing that Murphy wanted to leave were now in a strong bargaining position and were able to negoiate the sale of Murphy for a fee as well as the 2 Huddersfield players.
Looks like a good piece of sensible business to me.

| NGB4C - Murphys gone face facts he aint a world class player with a string of top clubs including those down under after him.The club needs strength in depth not a wafer thin squad that cant hold a hope when a couple of players are out.Just suppose some of the money the club got in the deal gets Tongia or another good player on a 2 or3 year deal now that would be a very good deal. Now get your head out of your hands wipe your tears away SMURFFS GONE.

Not my fight BUT lets say we sign Tongia (who i think would be ok) that'll be another none GB along with the two Aussie centres who have replaced AM and LG.
Its the bigger picture that concerns me, Sandal says it'll give Walshaw a better chance and it will but it will be second fiddle to the 2 Aussies.
I understand players come and go but i don't like replacing OUR OWN with imports, it kinda defeats the object does it not.

| BIGAL - Cant agree more and would like to see the quota drop to 2 but as it is if it helps the club in the short term so be it lets use the system. If and when Newmarket gets the go and the club moves in the club need to be around mid table to take advantage of it as opposed to being in the bottom 3.It would be a lot easier to sell the club to potential new fans that way.

| People are suggesting we sold Murphy in exchance for Raleigh & Kirmond + Cash.
As far as i'm aware these are two seperate deals; We sold Murphy for cash and picked up Kirmond & Raleigh for free as they wanted first team rugby and Hudds had cap issues

Especially when everyone on here seems to be up in arms about Chase potentially playing for England.
