Trinity really do remind me of Wigan in the latter days of Brian Noble, I have to say I think it is time for some fresh ideas at the club.

Agree.

Too many players appear to have stood still or gone backwards this season.Prime example - Dale Ferguson.

Like many others,i think JK has done a sterling job in his time at the club, but his coaching methods are out of sync with the current game.

the words "silk purse" and "sow's lug" spring to mind

All those who are criticising the 'half-back' pairing, who would you have selected??
How many half-backs were available for selection yesterday?

I guess in desperation Morrison was selected as a solid and reliable player who could at least block up the ruck area defensively.

Do we have any accomplished tactical kickers available? Obst can do it in a supporting/part-time basis but doesn't have the skills to be the 'go to' kicker.

a very fragile team confidence (based on a good win against Quins and a decent performance against Leeds) was shattered by errors at the start of the game.
If we'd got an early lead like last week it may have been different ??

When kear took over you men you looked really good playing some good rugby now it's far to inconsistent but if he does go whos going to come in?

There is already 3 coaches going at the end of the season but no replacments'"

i hear what you say but with kear being probably the most astute coach in my time as a fan its a bit daunting thinking of any one else.

Kear hinted at fans being pivotal during the lead up to the Wigan game and with 'Ladies night' being a huge filip in morale for the Leeds clash I wonder if Kear believes we are partly responsible for the lack of motivation?

Harbin played the fans card just before his untimely end.

People are saying he should go some are staying he should stay. Reading this thread you can honestly see more constructive argument for him going. I have no wish to offend anyone but it is a sad state of affairs when the best argument for him staying is either 'he saved us a few seasons ago', 'who else is there?' or 'for me he should stay'.

When the question arises who is there, well who had honestly heard of Stuart Raper, Nathan Brown, Tony Smith or Michael Maguire (the list could go on) as established coaches before they came over here and made our coaches look Dickensian in their methodology.

As to he saved us a few years back, as grateful as we are in this day and age past glories don't really hold much respect like they used to.

When people say for me he should stay, it is really good that people still back him but offer something to back your statement.

For me I believe as a coach Kear has gone through more in the last two years than most coaches will ever go through. That being said Rugby League is now more business than sport and the powers that be need to take a long hard look. I have a lot of respect for John Kear and I don't believe he has become a bad coach overnight, I just believe he has gone as far as he can with us. Don't get me wrong I believe there is still a place for Kear at the club I just think it might be time for some fresh ideas.

Harbin was never a great coach at the top level, but he knew how to motivate, even if those skills had a short shelf life - it worked.

I worry if players can't get 'up' for games week in, week out, especially as that's their job. You'd imagine many of them, and I don't blame them for this, would see themselves in a shop window at Belle Vue, with good, consistent performances seeing 'bigger' clubs interested in them. You'd think the ones who probably aren't good enough to step up, would play well to keep a job possibly above their level of talent. You'd think they wouldn't need much motivation to keep going, as if it takes stripping in front of a load of women to get them there, I definitely worry.

Good luck with the panto and stripping and all that, but I'd rather they be training for their real job.

My arguement for him staying uis based on the fact that over the period of time he has been here, he has improved players, taken us further in super league than anyone else, and his win/lose ratio is excellent considering the player list we can afford.
The team has had a big dip in form since we lost players this season. I think he is doing his best with what he has and will take us forward again when we can acquire the right players.

At this time patience is important for the fans, and unfortunately that is not normal. Everybody wants success right now.
It was a bad day at the office v Wigan. Let it go. It doesn't mean we all have to cry about getting rid of players and managers.

If we get rid I think we will be a lesser club because of it but we might have a flash win or two but we still don't have half backs to take us through the season. If we keep him it might be slower but it will get better again over time.

It might seem brave to say but I don't think Wayne Bennett would do better with the team we have right now.

Might I suggest a different way of addressing this question. The emotive response to a performance like yeserdays is likely to elicit a negative reaction to JK.

However based upon realistic expectations at the start of the season which games have we lost that we think we should have won. Crusaders and Quins in the cup but after that Im struggling to think of another.

Reverse the situation what have we won that we would reasonably have expected to lose Leeds at home.

Im sure I have missed a game here of there in my analysis but I reccon we are about parr for the season.

Playing champaign rugby - NO. Winning as many as I'd like - NO. But probably on a parr with where at the start of the season we could have expected to be.

I posted at the start of the season that matching last year would be an outstanding achievement and I thought we would finish approx 8th and Id consider that consolidation. I think we are on track.

Pretty much agree with that. My argument for him staying is, as you say, his practically year on year improvement he has brought to the club since his arrival. Not once have I said keep him because he saved the club from relegation in 2006. To keep a coach on sentiments based on achievement for years ago is daft.

Things have taken a turn for the worse since the departure of Brough and Tronc and we never really saw what Newton would’ve brought (other than HGH). I imagine most of the preparation in the off season would’ve heavily involved those three potentially key players and to lose them is a blow which the club are still recovering from and perhaps will not do for the rest of the season.

He has made a few strange tactical decisions this year and our performances have been up and down. However, it has been a nightmare season with the Newton, Brough, Tronc debacle and any coach would be up against it. I can't honestly believe that anyone of any calibre would be interested in the job at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised if he turned it round and we won our next 3 vs Catalan, Crusaders and KR.

If he goes I would seriously worry for our future, instability is the last thing we need at this point.
As much as he is making some decisions which puzzle me I can stand back and appreciate what he has and still is doing for this club. Our expectations have been raised year on year and he is now at the mercy of fickle fans' unrealistic ideas about where we should be. If we finish in the top 10 I will accept that as a reasonable finish for who and where we are as a club at this point in time.
