| Quote: Redscat "What sickens me somewhat in this era of corporate and personal greed is that there are countless of groups and individuals walking around in this world that have personal and corporate fortunes of billions. Take your Bransons, Souters, Gates etc of this world. To them a million pound thrown at a struggling community club like Trinity would be like you or me losing a pound coin in the street, yet it would bring joy and pleasure to thousands of people. Just how much money do some of these people need?'"

Yes.'"
Well instead of reading one line and deriving your opinion of my whole post from that, I suggest you read the whole post and place that line in its proper context.
Quote: dboy "
I don't want the head in the sand blind optimistic platitudes that we were served from Glover and Elston but they did create an air of positivity and optimism which had us playing to larger crowds.
Surely there were some elements of what worked for them that we can adopt without repeating their sins.
'"
What I'm suggesting is that we need a change of emphasis and priority, a redirection of some resources into something else.
What I do know is that if you continue to do what you do, you'll continue to get what you've got!
What we've been getting is going to send us on a downward spiral

| It's a risk for Dewsbury, remember. If we survive the middle 8's, any marketing Dewsbury does for getting people interested in watching rugby league will give the newbies a choice of top flight with us or the league below with Dewsbury.
If we have to leave Belle Vue, Dewsbury is probably the best option. The nearest ground and not a natural rival.

100% correct.
If we keep spending all our money on renting and maintaining BV, we will continue to have a team.
Austerity - it seems like you have heard a big word on TV and are just repeating it to sound clever.
No more Newsnight for you Avenger!

| As some else has pointed out, moving to Dewsbury or where ever could cost the club what they're hoping to save.

| Anyone would think we are the only team paying rent and/or maintenance fees, guess what? We are not . ALL TEAMS, and in fact all businesses have these overheads.
At BV we have the benefit of being able to generate income streams from the bars, car parking and hospitality etc. to offset the rent and upkeep. Will we have the same options at Dewsbury? I doubt it.

| Quote: Kevs Head "Scarlet pimpernel - I can't remember exactly but didn't we have to give six months notice to quit? I'm sure you'd hava had plenty to say if, in December MC was telling us that the club had gone bust because we had to pay out for BV on Championship (or even Poor SL) attendances. I don't see what option MC had.
On the bright side!!!!!! Every new situation presents opportunities. For many people in Wakefield The Rams' ground is nearer than BV and certainly nearer than Newmarket so, emotion aside, relocation doesn't necessarily mean lower attendances. In fact, it could open up an area previously thought to be the province of Huddersfield, Leeds and Bradford. It needs some marketing (yes, I know.....) but it could be a fresh start for us. Even in the Championship a successful team (yes, I know.....) could pull in 5000 speccies. How good would that be if we could have sell out crowds every home game? Perhaps I'm dreaming but the future of the club isn't in my hands so I've got to stay positive.'"
It sounds like you think that Dewsbury s ground meets SL minimum criteria ? Has this been confirmed anywhere?
As far as I am aware it does not and never has.
Ie. Dewsbury is purely a championship option ,is it not ?

| Probably only Salford paying more than us.
Would you pay £250k for a hole like BV?
Wouldn't you prefer to pay a fair rent and use any spare money to become competitive on the field?
Remember, the gates have down...largely attributable to poor ground and uncompetitive team.
Something has to change.

There doesn't have to be a minimum criteria anymore. That was ditched a few seasons ago.

Not quite true. It was relaxed a couple of seasons back but their is still a minimum standard criteria. A club can apply for an exemption but that is at the behest of the rfl.

Wow!
You've cracked the conundrum of how to return us to the top of the game.
It was that simple huh!
All our money on rent and maintenance, I was under the impression that we had some money to spend on other things too.
How's about we just change some policies to make attending a game more enjoyable, that would cost us nothing!
How about we carry one less fringe player and redirect the money towards marketing the games! We've currently got approx 32 Super League players, almost 2 full 17s.
How about we start talking up the club a bit, you know show a bit of positivity instead of painting everything grey and being pessimistic.
Maybe we should rethink the student season tickets and try to fill the ground with some younger supporters, maybe they'll buy a burger or a beer and actually increase match day revenue.
First team players should be contracted to spend a set number of hours doing media work, community and school work every week. Growing awareness of the clubs fixtures while also engaging kids who might just become interested in playing or actually attending games.
I haven't spent anything extra yet, had you noticed!

Really?
Doubling the Season ticket prices and the generally unfriendly welcome, the bouncers on the doors, plus asking people to pay for the Privilege of using the bar, upping the concession age by 5 years and removing the student discount and generally removing any interest for juniors.
All these , I would suggest have more to do with the falling gates than the state of the ground. Up until MC took over our gates had been steadily increasing for a few years and BV was no better then was it?
Add this to the garbage fare on offer this year and hey presto
How much will dewsbury charge us or Doncaster for that matter

| We had a ground that met minimum standards, well until we stopped spending money on it. I know why spend money on a ground you do not own, but wait a minute is that not the same situation at Dewsbury.
We will lose the revenue from the flats and I would expect that the concessions in the ground will be contracted to Dewsbury. The falling attendance is nothing to do with the ground but everything to do with the experience both on and off the field. What about the money we invested on the new season ticket system I hope this was on a short term lease so that we can give it back if not then that was not a good financial decision.
A plus with Dewsbury is that you can bring drinks into the ground unless of course not at the games we are involved in.

| A fringe player will be on max 16k.
How far does that go in marketing? A 1 week billboard costs £2k.
Then you'd moan we weren't giving our juniors a pathway.
MC stated this week that its the first year that ALL players and suppliers have been paid on time and in full.
How many fewer over 60s or students have bought STs this year? I assume you have this info.
Hopefully those discounts will be reintroduced, but if the increases this year mean we have balanced the books a little and rebuilt some of the goodwill in the business world, then fair enough.
One thing is for certain, halfing the ticket cost, doesn't double the attendance.
