more misleading confusion than semantics.

| What I know or think I know
Guisley's manager, Steve Kittrick, is a huge fan of the club and a long time sponsor who has poured a lot of money into the club via his various sponsorships.
Guisley train at Belle Vue.
Steve Parkin is a Wakefield Trinity fan, albeit from a distance rather than standing on the terraces.
Guisley have been promoted from the Unibond Premier to the Blue Square North where they have shot straight to the top or near the top of the table. This has fired the ambition of the Directors at Guisley, all wealthy men, who have a stated aim of taking Guisley as far up the Football League pyramid as they can. Their current ground will be a problem even though they built a new stand last year after a fire destroyed the old one.
They also see a long term problem, if they achieve the success they crave, in being a suburb of Leeds and therefore forever in the shadow of Leeds Utd.
Opportunities like buying a SL or even a potentially large Championship club who have a new stadium in the pipeline don't come around too often; especially ones relatively close to where you currently play. The added benefit of Wakefield being the largest city in the UK without Football League representation helps to build a case for relocating.
Like TRB says and as Vastman has also stated none of this may happen and we may just blink out of existence on the 2nd Feb only to be reborn as a Bramleyesque phoenix club. Ted Richardson might pull a spoon out of a jar, a la Tommy Cooper, and keep us afloat while staying in control of the club.
Steve Parkin might get up one morning and decide to sell up and emigrate to Australia....
Who knows?
We all have to wait and see but in the meantime this is a fans forum where we dream and speculate and argue and let of steam etc etc.
We live in interesting times!

| It is all rumour and speculation at the moment but we need something to cling on to at the moment. It's better than constantly thinking/doubting about the future existence of the club.
Keeping everything crossed!

| Quote: vastman "See that is what so annoys me on these forums. Just because you want it doesn't make it so!
I'd love it to be true but how do you know. Why do you assume that because he loves Guisely, race horses and LUFC he will feel the same about us - please explain - as poor old me can't see the connection! I personally have had enough of nods and winks and comments such as "great bloke" I'd rather the facts good or bad.
I say again tell me what's in it for him and how you know this and I'll gladly accept what you and others say - otherwise I'd be a fool - the sort of fool who believed Ted (I can safely assume you are one of the 99% of folk on here who always knew he was a wrongun)
Who said it was so? I never did, thats for sure.
I was joining in with light hearted speculation about it..... I have absolutely no idea about the man and his ethics and motives, except what I read in the 2 articles linked to on here. I have even less idea if it is true, and nowhere have I said it is going to happen, or even suggested there is any truth in what (at the moment) seems to be based on what 1 guy "has heard".
You asked me why a man who is clearly a shrude business man (and this much is a fact) would want to pour his money down our particular drain, suggesting that no like minded shrude business man would want to do such a thing.
I simply offered examples of other shrude business men who pour money down their particular chosen drains on a regular basis. You asked what was "in it for him", the answer is who knows, I assume you have as much knowledge of him as the rest of us. But what is absolutely certain is that sometimes very rich, succesful businessmen sometimes throw incredible amounts of money 'down the drain' on their own personal whims such as racing cars, charity and philanthropy, race horses, football clubs and rugby clubs and this guy appears to be one of these type of guys.
I answered your question - now you answer mine, whats in it for Lennegan, Davy, Moran, Caddick etc?

I won't because it's an unanswerable question.
Lennegan, Davy, Moran and Caddick are already in situ and it is clear that 3 out of the 4 are in it for paternalistic reasons rather than as a business venture, Due to the nature of Leeds RLFC it's more of a business decision for Caddick - Leeds being the only SL club that IMO offers a business opportunity of sorts. All the above have put there cash on the line as a matter of public record and thus their motives appear fairly obvious.
What some on here are doing is trying to second guess a man who hasn't as far as I'm aware made on single public utterance a the situation. They are taking various links and putting them together to create a scenario. This is fine but in this most heated of times it's better for all of us that scenarios don't become rumours don't become bogus facts as so often happens on here. Imagine the bloodletting on here if some get it into their heads that this is really happening only for it to be a total red herring - I couldn't bare to watch

| I know a few of you are not fans of "wendyball" as you call it (why?), but if a football team relocated to Newmarket, I for one would be up for attending their games. Especially if they got into the BSP or Football League!
I'd still support Leeds United though!! Not quite sure how I square that one

| An owner of a football team and rugby team at NM would be able to sell year round advertising, rather than two part year deals, the extra exposure to the football team advertisers during the Sky matches at NM would mean that the owner would be able to charge more, maximising income to the club.
By having a year round operation, it makes the stadium busier, the bars, shops, etc... busier, increasing income. Economies of scale mean that a year round specialist back room admin / management team would be best suited for the whole operation. See how the Rhinos/Tykes have developed with their joint set up. By being able to offer a greater usage of facilities means a greater bargaining power on prices, driving the two sports prices down.
If the football team get in the FL then the exposure on national tv would vastly increase their income potential, which would be a great asset to the whole operation. This would mean that interest in the joined up partnerships would be much more.
Also, grants are much more likely to be granted if they are to cover 'multi-sport' options, rather than just one individual sport. The community departments work can be better co-ordinated by having a partner within the same offices, etc..
I don't know whether this deal will occur, but the potential of working alongside a football team is massive, and an opportunity that the new owners whoever they are should investigate fully.

| Would be interesting to see the split in revenues between the Stadium Trust and the tenants for advertising, ticketing, hospitality, concessions…

| Quote: altofts wildcat "Reading through the thread it appears to me that it makes perfect sense for Parkin to centralize his businesses in one place (Newmarket). It is also true that Guisley need to improve their ground shortly and by moving to Newmarket he can get Guisley a new ground for free which again appears to make perfect sense. The only thing that may cause issues is moving Guisley to Wakefield, we wont know whether they will loose or gain fans by doing this. As for buying us, it would make sense for him to invest what is probably loose change for him in order for him to effectivly control the newmarket stadium and also it would probably be cheaper to run two teams out of one stadium then it is to run one team because it would give him all round income as opposed to just football in the winter or rugby in the summer.'"
Just playing Devil's advocate here but what do you reckon he'd do if Newmarket doesn't come off which is, in reality, a possibility?

I would have no idea to be honest we would just have to wait and see but from what i have heard and from what i know i expect Newmarket to pass through the public enquiry.

As I understand it, the SoS must suggest another more suitable site if he turns NM down, we will have to build a stadium there, as he won't be able to turn that down.
I can't see him turning down NM now, it's just about the length of time it will take, I am heartened by the news that this will be looked into separately and get the feeling that it won't take as long as we first feared.
