Yes,i think you have hit the nail on the head there. Time will tell, but i think you are on the right lines.

I've just posted on another thread that I'm wondering how long Max is going to be here. Why would we swap a very promising centre for a fullback who hasn't been getting regular rugby?
Might be reading too much into it but the way it's going we're running an extremely rapid race to the bottom. Wouldn't surprise me if Max has played his last game in a Trin shirt.

| Well, amongst the madness..........
I would like to welcome Will Dagger to Wakefield Trinity and I hope it goes well for him.
He will be getting my support seeing as he will be wearing the RW&B.

Behind the madness of this all, it’s easy to overlook a lad is coming in the opposite direction to hopefully put in some decent performances. 100% agree. What a baptism of fire against St’s.

Not many will get a regular spot vying against Coote ,

On that assumption we should only ever have one player in each position , so competition for places ( which we haven’t at the moment ) is resigned to the history books. Do we even know if max wants to sign for us or what to try pastures new . Competition for places is what we are sadly lacking at the present time , someone to give certain players a kick up the jacksy . The lacklustre performances so far says to me they know that and are performing Accordingly.

| Dagger is a good SL quality full back who I personally think will cement his spot at 1 for Wakefield for the rest of the season in a move which may see Max when he returns move to 6 which would see a considerable upgrade on pace and strike in our backline.
He’s an Academy International fullback and a local junior.
Kay has been doing an admiral job as a stop gap tackling and catching high balls but he isn’t a pivot and the fullback position in the modern game is one of the most creative outlets in the team.
Dagger provides that outlet of a creative pivot playing at second receiver, he has natural pace and evasion skills.
He’s behind Coote who is widely regarded as the best organisational fullback in the league however when he has played this season he has gone very well.
I appreciate he is going to get panned should we lose against Saints this week but in reality getting him in now gives us an opportunity to get him more acclimatised before the Cas game the week after which is obviously huge.
I appreciate I’m in the minority but taking the 2023 season in isolation I think this is a good move.

| We don’t know that facts and never will. It may free Kaye to play on the wing instead of the extremely slow/ grim reaper - Taufua.
Let’s hope for a bit more movement in the forwards next.

I agree with your assessment Jonh had it been the close season I would have been disappointed as Corey looked pretty good last year. This season however he not hit the form of last year he may do for Rovers but he has been a shadow of last season. We have some good young centres waiting in the wings so I am sure they will be putting it in during training. It also means our centres are pretty settled as Lyne and Langi pending anymore injuries.
I would like us to get a forward in who can attack more our backrow forwards are all too defensive fo me, we could do with a Westerman type loose.

Agree about the forwards. We lack a strike forward.
Ashurst used to fill that role but his maybe lost that dynamism as he has aged.

That strike forward is Tanginoa. We already have him.
He’s just not got on the field. He is a big strike weapon out wide for us.

Correct. It’s an indication of him being missing all season that he slipped my mind!

| From an outside perspective (not that anybody asked like ), Dagger is a good signing for you guys i reckon in a position that you need.
I have always liked what i have seen of him for Hull KR, always put a good showing of himself and full of enthusiasm.
Never a good feeling to lose a promising youngster, but this seems like the better move for Wakefield short-term which with the way this season has gone so far seems like the right approach of thinking.
