| While I'm not particularly bothered whether he is retained or not, his ineffective games outweigh his good, signing up players so early on in the season can be a good thing. It creates stability and maybe gives other player's confidence to sign up too.

That's how I see it.

| Well I would say that if Jacob decided not to stay the club need to appoint a major signing. We could be left looking for a half back partnership at the end of the season.

I get your point but Williams is only on a one year deal so that's happening anyway.
If Miller and Williams create a partnership and it's to early to tell then signing Miller is great so long as we then sign Williams - from what I've seen of Williams that might not ne easy.
Although so long as Eddie keeps mistaking him for Miller then at least nobody will spot his excellent goal kicking

| It would be good business to have Miller for another 2 seasons.
First of all, there is a shortage of halves in SL and to use one of JK's lines, you cant have too many options with your pivots.
Also, I think that some are being a little unfair on the guy.
For ANY halves to perform, you need your pack on top and this just hasn't happened often enough over the last 2/3 seasons.
Miller, like most, looks to be a confidence player and he will improve through the season.
I agree that he is more of a support player than creative genius but, he had a cracking game at Saints and he has some of the fastest feet in SL.
Definitely a "keeper".

Well if you had your way, Miller currently wouldn't be playing would he, so they wouldn't be creating any partnership at all.

| If he signs great business he never takes a step back in defence and will only get better and develop his game. I would rather see him do that with us than with one of our rivals. The club seems to have a feel good factor about it and is attractive now for players to stay and new ones to sign thats a good position to be in. Get the ground issues settled and we look very stable more stable than a lot of other top flight clubs.

No he wouldn't but that's not the issue is it. I know you're desperate to have an argument, I've clearly humiliated you in the past but you're completely missing the point as usual.
The issue is about "partnerships" and unless I'm wrong that requires two people - so if we can't tie down Williams then what happens with Miller is irrelevant in this particular case as there will be no partnership.
What part of this don't you understand?

Well I'm struggling with your logic.
So Williams will be difficult to tie up for longer than this year, so what happens with Miller is irrelevant?
How's that work then?
If Miller signs, then we know we have one half of a partnership, whether that be with Williams, Finn or at a push Wood.
If we don't sign Miller, who's going to replace him, on the budget we have and the players available?
RW&B points out that if players are committing themselves early, the ones that are undecided whether to stop, may go round again, Wiliams being the prime example.

| I think what Vasty is getting at is Williams impressive form will be attracting envious attention from other SL clubs
There is a shortage of genuine quality half backs at even some of the big clubs and I feel more than one will be watching the situation.

I think most people were aware that he only came over to England as he got squeezed out at Canberra due to the salary cap.
Williams is impressive and big clubs will be looking at him, you also point out that genuine quality half backs are hard to come by.
Miller may not be in the Williams bracket but I don't think we will get much better at the present time, if at all.
Playing along side Williams can only improve Miller as a player.

| One thing I noticed last week was that all the arguments were about whether Millers obstruction try should have been awarded but it took the gloss from Williams sublime little kick.

| I think vasty is just manipulating the thread in to a position in which he can justify being an obnoxious donk
but mebbe that's just me
either way, the thread is about Jacob Miller, not a Jacob Miller partnership, he has to stand as quality player in his own right, we don't know who is available to play as a partner from one week to the next, so whilst we can muse about who he might build up a rapport with, whats the point if you don't think he should be playing in the first place.

| I like Miller.
He's not perfect but what he does well he does better than most.
We are not going to get better than him and so I would sign him and either accept what we have and make the best of it or preferably build around him with players like Williams.

| Given the fact that we have signed up some of our younger players on longer deals, plus some key experienced players too recently, whos to say we dont retain Williams too.
We have already stood up to clubs stating we arent selling players, such as Johnstone, Jowitt and Miller.
Some of the 3-4 top SL clubs already have settled half back combinations.
At the end of the day one of the reasons why Williams came over was to get more game time.
