If that figure is true, then that is quite simply poor.

Based upon those figures, MC has worked wonders in assembling this squad.

I could imagine these for the start of last season, given how poor 2015 went, but with how well we did in 2016. It baffles me sometimes

Many reasons why as has been debated on this forum many times i.e. now its summer rugby people have to take in to account holidays that's maybe 2 weeks missed then there is work commitments its a 24/7 work environment people work shifts and of course this fits in with the problem of Sky moving the fixtures about to mention a few. This does not automatically mean an annual loss of income as people will attend matches but pay on the gate. What the club need to do is re look at other ways of providing season tickets, maybe they could start with reimbursing fans for unused tickets due to Sky moving the fixtures to days they work, if they don't want to give money back give a discount off next years season tickets.

I'm not surprised at the season ticket sales tbh. We need at least three consecutive good seasons if we want them to increase.

Sorry but even when we had good seasons in SL our crowds were generally not good enough for the size of the city. I really mean it when I say Wakefield does not deserve a SL team. The vast majority of the population would probably ride on any success but still wouldn't get down and support them. I suppose we just have to accept that rugby league doesn't 'float their boat'

Wakefield deserves a SL team and the support is there as proven in the past. Competitive team in a decent stadium and we'd have above average attendances in SL and more potential than most of SL

Son and yours truly got ours. Just wish all the lapsed 'know alls' in the pubs and clubs get off their backsides . My window cleaner is typical example . Told him I was off to magic weekend . Reply --wouldn't waste my money nowadays '. He didn't even know we were on a winning run and were really competitive . I' m afraid it will take 2/3 years of being competitive for the cynicism to evaporate.

I think that the fans that we have currently are generally very passionate and committed to following Trinity and if each one of us tells folk the good things that are happening, it will help increase the supporter numbers.
We all know people that used to come to games and have, for whatever reason, stopped coming.
So, tell them how good the squad is and to get themselves down to watch an odd game or two,
They'll soon be hooked again icon_biggrin.gif

Me, the boy and for the first time the mrs. Would hope the number will nudge up to nearer 2k in the new year.

I wonder if there are too many free/cheap tickets about in the community game which puts people off getting a ST?

This is an echo chamber, in which people who are passionate enough about the club sign up to a website to discuss the intricate details of everything about it, with other (mostly) likeminded people; preaching to the choir if you will.

What we don't do very well is market the club to people with less interest in it in the first place; blaming your potential customers for not buying your amazing product is not an accepted marketing strategy - you have to convince them of how amazing it is and get them to try it out for themselves. The club could do much more in that regard.

I haven't got a ST by the way - I'll be walking up to every home game though, and selected away games; so the club will make more money from me than they would if I bought a discount ST.

Ah! - I need to clarify I think. The people who support only when we are a good team (and that's not been very often in recent years) are the ones I mean don't deserve a SL team.
Of course every poster on here does! we are the hard core supporters.
The problem is our hard core supporters are relatively few in number.
Moan over - just buy a ticket or at least SUPPORT the club on match day.

I used to take that option until that early bird Eric France offer when we were selling season tickets before we knew the result of the original £1K game.
I now presume the club prefers money up front albeit a bit less. ?

We will not get many "new" season ticket holders or indeed walk ups until the stadia is sorted. Rugby League is marketed as a family game, and as we all know Belle Vue is just not Family friendly in the slightest. Poor View, Poor facilities, Times have changed and people want more bang for their buck so to speak, so to shell out £50.00 + for an afternoons entertainment in the summer, I'm afraid Belle Vue is way down the list on most peoples ideas. As said before, we are very good at preaching to the converted, but we offer little, and what little we offer we don't tell anyone about, the next signing we make should be a proven Media . Marketing manager with a budget to work with. I Know MC cannot work miracles, but this area is where some investment is needed.

I agree, given the choice of a family day out, watching Trin at Belle Vue doesn't even make the top 50 possible places. My wife won't come as she HATES the toilets and dislikes the lack of view from many locations in the stadium. People will find it hard to get excited about coming to watch a game they might not necessarily understand in a stadium which was outdated in the 70's and hasn't improved since. I love going down because it's been a life long passion, others don't feel that way. We NEED a few good seasons and a new stadium before anyone gets excited in the wider Wakefield community

This one is specifically aimed at Mr Carter AKA Daddycool.

It’s probably to late for this season but I have a suggestion for season tickets.

I would love to buy a season ticket but it’s simply impractical as I can’t get to all the home games nor do I really know which ones I can make - I go when I can.

On average I manage ten games a season (excluding cup matches). What I would like to suggest is a ten game season ticket. I’m not so much after a big discount it’s more a case of convenience and a way of ensuring I go. It also makes a far more feasible present than a full season ticket.

Basically it’s ten tickets for 10 non specific games - only one ticket per match can be used - price with a slight discount £195 standing. I could justify one of these and if I manage more than 10 games I’ll pay on the day as usual.

Maybe there is some reason this can’t work but i thought it at least worth a suggestion as I reckon they would sell - you could also re-introduce them hallway through the season if we start to do really well.

Thought please.

Quote: Trinity1315 "1200? That is nothing short of pathetic!
I can't put my finger on why, but there seems to be a general apathy in Wakefield towards supporting Trinity. The city, generally does not deserve a SL team. We have a population of 76k and only 1200 sales! words fail me. MC works wanders with the income he gets. He must really love the club because I wouldn't blame him if he said 'stuff it' and walked.'"

I bet that figure is far higher nowadays as well. It was over 76k in 2001 and we've been building houses like mad in the City since then. Also that figure doesn't include places like Altofts and Normy and Ossett. I bet it's closer to 100k now.

Like others have said there a couple of things that hold that Season ticket sales generally back. The first is the decades of being poor and the relatively recent off field dramas. Realistically, even though the Club have done an awesome job of putting a team together, plus also the re-branding, it's going to take a few back to back seasons of moderate success to get more and more people interested. Then we come to the ground. I know it's something that everyone is very conscious of, but If you're not a hardcore RL fan it's a pretty grim experience, especially if you're bringing the family.

Generally my hope for next season is that we can increase crowds by as much as we increased them last year, 800 or so. If we can say average 5500 fans and have a decent season and then back it up again the year after, there's no reason why we can't get back up to the around 7000. Obviously we've got the ground issues still in the back ground and again this season, that sort of hinders stability in a way.

Personally with work and travel I don't get season tickets and come when I can get to games, which is often not known until the day of the game, unless it's Sundays.
