Obst, Latu, Blanch, Martin (Cas?), Drew (Cas?), Winterstien (released?) and any other potential signings are battling it out for that last place, unless they are exempt ala Korkidas and Demetriou.
If there are to be some departures who are contracted for next season then this scenario will change.'"
Oh I see what you mean now! Sorry.

Well he's had a pretty darn good career for spends to much time half unconcious and laid out. Seem like he has absolutley no difficulty playing rugby

Stosic went to Macedonia earlier on in the year, to enable him to not count on the quota as I believe his dad was born there, would this not allow say blanch and tronc to be signed and that would then take us up to our limit ?

That doesn’t leave any room for Morrison, but next to go would probably be Obst as we have some young guns coming through in his position. (but I wouldn’t like it)'"

I included Tronc in the 5.
Tronc Q
Petersen Q
Morrison Q
Stosic NF
Evans ?
If Blanch* is retained then that leave no space for any other overseas player unless they are already playing in SL and have been doing so before Feb 2007.
*Thinking about it Blanch has been playing in England for a while now (2006?) so I wonder whether he can be deemed exempt. Same for Latu.

They changed the rules on this unfortunately.
Having an English passport makes you exempt from the quota, but if you played your first rugby outside the "federation" like Blanche and Leo-Latu then you count as non federation trained.
You can have 5 quota players and 6 non fed trained, but when added together you can only have 6 in total next year (is 10 this year I think which is why everybody has so many).....so as said in other posts, we will have to to lose players if we sign who we are rumoured to be signing.
Korki, JD and Hendo are exempt because they were here before the rule came in so don't count in the NF rule.

| Just looking back through history, is it not 5 quota players and 8 Non Federation trained players (inc. quota) next season, rather than the 6 quoted?

That’s what I mean, if Blanch was over here in 2006 then he should have the same status as the three you highlighted. Latu too as he is classed as a Kolpack (I think) and isn't a quote player. I know that they are not exempt but just wondering whether hey should be?

I'd love you to be right because I think Blanch is one our best and we should keep at all costs but I think that you had to be in or out at the point of the new rule coming in.
They all meet the same crieria of being non fed trained even though they have passports but because the 3 were accepted as being able to play in UK without limitation they could not then be told they couldn't work.
Hendo went to court to prove the case.
Blanch I'm not sure about and see your point about being here a while but I doubt very much whether Stosic would be exempt from NF rules.
I've tried to find some clarification on't web but I haven't landed on anything that explains those rules clearly yet.
