| Quote: Egg Banjo "I like it. A nice homage to the original Trinity shirt from when the club started with the blue/dark blue hoops, and matches with the original Wakefield coat of arms gold fleur de lys on a blue background.'"
Is it really a modern take on the original Trinity shirt? I've never seen it or heard it described.
If there is some evidence of this, then it's a neat idea, albeit I agree that the trim should be red, not gold.
If this is the idea of a merchandising manager, the manager needs to take a course on brand identity. As someone else has said, you wouldn't know it as a Wakefield shirt. Potentially a good idea but badly executed due to the Rhinos comparison.
But if anyone feels miffed about it, take a tour of the Leigh shirt.

Cue Derrick pulling another P.R. stunt to get the camera back in his direction.

| Quote: Trojan Horse "If people don’t like it the don’t buy it. Simple solution.
Don’t spend your money on it then. Especially if your more bothered about what fans of other clubs might think instead of supporting the club. You won’t have to worry about it then.
The clubs intentions were clear and they have used a club colour in blue with gold trim representing our 150th. It is a trinity shirt and that is fact.'"
TBH, I don't give a sh*t what fans of other clubs think......
I won't be buying it and I do support the club through thick and thin.
I don't like it. End of.

| Really disappointed with this “Home” shirt, it would have been acceptable as an “Away” or a one off to celebrate 150 years.
I always buy the home kit as it generally Red, White and Blue, I like those colours and synonymous with Wakefield Trinity.
Both my kids agree too and for the first time neither are bothered about having the shirt for Christmas.

| Quote: Redscat "Sorry, don't like it. I have to agree with the Leeds replica brigade. Very poor choice, I'll have to think twice about my platinum membership next year as that's two season's disappointment on the trot for me. Hoping for a variation on the legendary "Toppo" shirt design with a special golden badge.
Not for me!!'"
I'm totally in agreement RC, I actually like the design, but the colour combination has nothing whatsoever to do with the Wakefield Trinity colours widely recognised.
Of course, it makes no difference to my support for the players wearing it but I did hope for something a little bit special to mark 150 years of the club, based on OUR recognised club colours of RW and B and I would have bought one.
As it is I will definitely not be buying a Leeds Rhinos shirt. Silly decision IMO.

| Whether we like it or not let’s hope the players wear it with pride.
Oh, and the younger fans like it as they tend to be the ones who buy them.

Again it’s not a Leeds Rhinos shirt. It’s a Wakefield Trinity shirt. You may not like the colour (despite it being blue which is one of trinity recognised colours) but get it right. It is very much a Wakefield shirt and it’s only a section of sulking fans who are comparing it to rhinos shirt. Our kit this year has no semblance to both Rhinos kits this year either.
Can you imagine us releasing a spearmint green shirt like Rhinos have. We’d have this forum camping outside the club with placards.
Why would you buy a Rhinos shirt anyway?? Just buy this trinity shirt instead
About time we had something different instead of the same boring designs year on year. I just looked at Leeds shirt and it’s boring and naff compared to ours and critically nothing alike.

I’m a traditionalist in every way but as a one off for a one off year I really don’t see the issue. I’m not just supporting the club on this either, I just don’t care, I get why it’s been done.

I guess im kind of in the middle. Been watching since 1996 when I was a lad but I was against the badge change to Wildcats and have always called them trinity even through that section of the clubs history. I put my greediness in preference down to growing up and having experienced both the humbleness of things like 4 channels on the old small tv’s, top loaders, no mobile phones etc to then experiencing the luxury of the technology boom we have seen in the 90/00s when I was a teen and young adult.
I like tradition but equally I do like something modern and adventurous. I don’t feel the need to exclude one or the other in many walks of life.
Blue and gold is a cracking combination of colours too. The more I see it then more I want to go out and buy it today.
It doesn’t bother me people not liking it. We all have opinions. It bothers me people calling it a Leeds shirt. Leeds didn’t make it and it looks nothing like the Leeds kits announced.

| I'd have been happier if it had been a 'one-off' commemorative shirt with separate/traditional home & away shirts, which would also maximise merchandise potential
Instead, I'll get a polo shirt or two by way of supporting the club

| The point of a new shirt, especially in our 150th year, is for people to buy it.
The idea of using the historic shirt design was really good. No one would have complained.
But adding the gold where they have makes it look like a very well known Leeds shirt. There are no two ways about it. It does. I don't mind us playing in it. But if they want to sell them they are not going to do so.
Whoever signed off the gold bit did not do their homework.
Our shirt doesn't actually look like any of their previous shirts, but the gold draws you to that link.
If the ASUS was white or we only gad gold on sleeve and not collar I don't think anyone would have connected so much.
Big miss in my opinion.

That's pretty much where I am. And it doesn't match the historic shirt they're trying to emulate, where there is a real contrast between the hoop colours. Marketing is about branding. This isn't the Trinity brand.
But we've had worse. At least one club has a comedy shirt. And I won't mind when I see Murphy scoring a winning try in it.

Leeds shirt has yellow/amber trim. It’s different to the gold. I looked at both this morning. They’re two different colours.
If we had gone the same colour as Leeds I’d agree but it’s gold and you can clearly see that so I just don’t see an issue.
Leeds have white trim on their shirt. That’s a trinity colour isn’t it?

Imagine you hadn't watched League for ten years but saw a super league trailer for next year with all the captains lined up. You'd be able to identify the clubs involved except us (and Leigh, but that's a whole other story). I think that's the general point.
As a commemorative shirt though, I like the idea. I just can't help thinking that if they are going to do that, it should be the same colours as the original shirt, light blue and black, then at least there is a point to it. This is just a generic blue shirt with gold trim.
