| Quote: westgaterunner "Unfortunately the Wakefield job is a coach killer. For numerous reasons such as, we don`t have a ground worthy of Superleague , a salary cap to match the other teams in the league or a sugar daddy backer who can afford to throw money in without thinking twice about it. A lot of the squad we have have been on the rugby merry go round before arriving here and the local talent we have nurtured is not coming through compared to other clubs, maybe because we haven`t the strength in squad to let young players play out wide and get used to the speed of which is expected of them. When they come in they are straight on the coal face expected to do the job. Yet still theres statiticians on here who can tell us our win to games ratio and come up with the conclusion that its the coaches fault. No coach sends out the message, come on lads lets get our s kicked for the supporters. Sometimes you have to admit that we are being beaten by a better set up team than ours.'"
you can't blame the ground for poor performances and poor attitude on the pitch it would match any club, that's where they apply their trade and yes no coach would send a team out to play bad but the team could if they have no faith in him and don't want to play for him, if they aren't then they are making a very poor job of it

| Quote: PopTart "Seriously I don't know what people are expecting
We had our full left side missing which is our key attacking force.
Miller went off during the game
No Tanginoa, Batch off
We kept a near full strength Sts side scoreless in first half with some good defense.
A couple of the tries were simply down to slow reactions from Kershaw.
And we played to the end in an effort to score.
It's a long season. We may not win another but we shouldn't be judging the season on losing to Leeds, Wigan and Sts away.
Even in our best seasons I wouldn't expect to bear them away.
It's going to be a problem if Miller is long term injury but we'll just have to do our best.'"
I think its part of the problem PT, a lot of us were expecting what we got because we get the same every week and that's regardless of opposition, regardless of who we have out as a team, regardless of circumstances - We lose games in the exact same fashion with the exact same problems that lead us there. That's just not the first 4 games of the this season, which a stated all look very very similar, but all last season and the season before that too.
We seem to have this conversation every week with regards to, we were missing this player, we were missing that player, we had to switch this or that around when in actual fact zero changes regardless of who is out there, that's just been real. It made me laugh that then radio commentary team last night credited saints for blowing us a way in a 10 minute period but here's something for you, if I ask you to cast your mind back to last week you would get something very similar against Catalan, could just be a coincidence but look the week before against Wigan? Exact same, what about the week before against a patched up Leeds? Near identical.
And after all that if you still think it's a coincidence or anything to do with missng players or our opposition, you can probably go through yourself last years games and realise that the worrying trend was something that was there all year long regardless of who was on the pitch, regardless of who was in front of us.

I’m sticking to what i’ve said for the last couple of weeks, Chester has until the end of the month to turn it around otherwise with the cup break it is time to walk. He needs damn good performances against Hull & Catalans with at least one win out of them or for me his position becomes untenable.'"
I stand corrected it is 8 wins in 40 v sl opps quite surprised that the agg score is around 28- 16 which for the high amount of defeats aint that bad

Well for a win against either Hull or Catalans, we would need to see a completely different team and attitude - similar to that displayed after the press slagging last season. What happened to that attitude and positivity? How come that same passion is not applied now?

| Would love to know what the half time motivational speech is ( steady lads you don’t want to be knocking yourselfs up or you’ll get on nose bleed) . I just can’t imagine what is said to instigate performances so different in two half’s .

| I watched the whole game last night and the first half we put everything in we defended well and saints didn’t really bother us and we had plenty of field position but quite simply we just have no idea what to do with it even when they were down to 12. Still we went in at 0-0 and thought who knows if we get a bit of luck we could hang in here. Then we come out like a completely different team, I don’t know if they switched off or it was the team talk but we just disintegrated and crumbled like a biscuit. We we’re falling off tackles for fun.
Saints got on top in the forwards and it just goes to show that if you do this it creates the space for the backs. We look so easy to defend against and even with our power in TJ and bill we play the same way, we can’t apply any pressure on our opponents cause we can’t score any points and the effort we put in all’s goes to waste add to that it’s an 80 minute game are we fit enough, well the pack should be they only play 20 minutes each half. I suppose if you can’t see the problems you can’t solve the problems. Effort 100% know how 0

| Snowie. I know the ground will not directly affect the players performance, but the bigger picture, is that a player would more than likely choose the better ground facilities and stadium over a derelict ground that needs updating.

I'd agree with that.
It's not a fitness thing, or an effort thing
It's quality of both coach and players.
Personally I think it's less coach and more players.
If we can improve our attack we will improve our stamina in games because we do less work and make them do more.
But, if we are not able to play half our strongest players, the quality will dip, no matter what people want to believe.

Ask yourself this, whilst he's not without faults if Kear was in charge of this team would you have expected only 8 out of 40+ wins?
IMO Kear would be doing significantly better with this team. I do not think it's an effort thing with the players in the main and ateotd the buck stops wit the coach and we seem to be going only one way now.
Personally I'm worried. Very worried

Let's be honest. The same people moaning now moaned about Kear too.
In answer to your question, I don't think he'd have got much better out of a 3/4 line of Innes, Lyne, Arundal returning from injury and Kershaw.
People are constantly talking about the team not performing as well as it should but the team that can perform better isn't on the field.
For the record I didn't want Kear to leave so would be happy for him to come back, but if he does he'll instantly have 'fans' moaning that we play 5 drives and a kick.

If we can improve our attack is the million dollar question is it not?! I know it's only 4 games, but what improvements from last season have you personally seen so far? Has our go forward, kicking game, execution of plays, last tackle options, defending opposition kicks, creating and taking opportunities when the opposition are making errors........have they all improved? I would say a big fat noooooooo. The very first game against Leeds, our star player & coach in their after match interview both said, we are still making the same mistakes as last season......

That’s not answering my question is it? Would we have had 8/40+ wins under Kear? Yes or no?!
And there is a difference between people moaning and other people pointing out Chesters deficiencies

| Chester has been given long enough to prove he can turn things around. He has been given the players he wanted and two new assistants to help him and still we cannot put a structured attacking plan in place. He has in all honesty got far more assistance than probably any of our coaches in the SL era. I actually think our line defence is better but how much is that down to Chester.
What do you want the supporters to do accept the obvious that relegation is currently on the horizon and be happy that it’s worth it because the club is showing loyalty and will not face their responsibility and remove Chester.
The people in charge must see the performances and realise what relegation means for the club. They want us to keep spending our money which the hard core will but their numbers are reducing and SL is in the entertainment business and we are certainly not.
When the crowds return if we continue the way we are I am sure that the club and Chester will be fully aware of what the supporters think both vocally and with reduced numbers.
