Quote: Kevs Head "Can't blame the ref for that defeat but we sure got some odd decisions against us. The pass from Lynne was in no way forward, the penalty against Bill when Prior was just standing there was bizarre and he gave a knock on against Bill when he'd clearly knocked the ball backwards. OK - easy to criticise from the sofa but all seemed a bit harsh to me. Apart from that we just need some more firepower in the forwards, better last tackle plays, tighter defence, more options running off Lino and we'll be fine!!!!'"

One or two decisions may have gone against you but certainly none of those you are claiming

To be fair to you guys I don`t think you played that bad.
Just the odd silly mistake and not taking advantage when you were 16-4 cost you.
I don`t agree that it was our second team.
That forward pack will probably be our first choice.
Our first choice players such as Tom Briscoe and Liam Sutcliffe are pretty gash and Gale wasn`t fit.
Had you moved the ball out wide more both Senior and Johnstone would have murdered the Briscoes.
A decent interchange hooker along with Battye would have made the difference
For me the forward pass at the end shows Senior behind the centre but it looks like he is passing it forward imo..

I watched it and I’m more optimistic than disappointed.

Disappointed is the word.

Slim loss to a team expected to be top 4 - yes missing players, but missing no more than us.

Bombed 3 trys. Should have won.

If Leeds are top 4, are we relegation fodder. based on that showing?

No, whilst there were typical Trin elements in it there was also some positive stuff as well. It was 50/50 really. And Johnstone's tries alone made it worth watching. For me:

1 - I though Lino started quite well and whilst he didn't set the game alight I felt like there's a player in there that will do well for us.
2- We actually tried to get Johnstone into the game really early on and lo and behold he scores a wonder try.
3 - (Even though this should be a given), you couldn't question the attitude of the players.

1 - Our pack struggled to make metres all game which is worrying, although despite what others have said I thought Fafita played quite well. I think in part our lack of metres was due to this over reliance on wingers to bring the ball out first tackle and immediately putting us on the back foot.
2 - I don't think there's another team that has conceded so many tries where the player hasn't had a finger laid on him. And it feels like this has been going on since Kear left (I accept this may be inaccurate but it feels that way). It amazes me how easy it is to get an overlap against us.
3 - After getting Johnstone into the game early we then neglected to really try again for another half hour.
4 - Crowther at hooker and starting hooker at that. Whilst his tackling is a real asset he's not a top level hooker imo his strengths lie elsewhere. I think this really holds back our attack the opposition know he's not gonna hurt them with his running from dummy half and his distribution his patchy (understandable given he's a back rower). It seems to me Chester just wants his defence but we need a proper hooker there not a stop gap. I don't think it's fair on him either.

It's extremely disappointing, we should have had the game wrapped up, it's not the first time and definitely not the last.
The problem for me is that we never seem to move on and you know before the season end we will be in the same position at least another 3 to 4 times.
I'm finding it increasingly difficult to accept and to be totally honest it's becoming a given.
Before the game CC said we are targeting a top eight finish, that disappointing and accepting once again a mediocrity.
What's wrong with saying we are looking to finish in the top 5 or 6 and expect to shake things up.
Its the first game of the season but we seem to be thinking that 8 will do nicely.

Did he say that? Top 8? Surprised at that - whilst I think that is probably realistic it's hardly a ringing endorsement of the team from him, certainly not challenging them to overachieve is it. Unless he's trying to take the pressure off?. It's only 2/3 years ago we finished in the top 5 isn't it?

Top six 2005 - Trinity.:

Quote: Redscat "Just two of the problems that have bugged us for 20 years or more. I wish I knew the answer.'"

A good quality 9 and plenty of practice on the last play kicks in oppo 10/20 is the answer imo. The distribution is far too laboured in getting to first receiver. We have two of the tallest wingers in the league yet rarely do we put a ball out to the corner in the danger zone.

stand by my original statement PT, but with the caveat of possibly a two or three season's respite.

Yeah but all their practice time is taken up practicing driving the ball up

From a slow start we got into the arm wrestle and with a bit of luck and a rub of the green we’d have come away with the points .Plenty of things that I saw today fill me with hope for the season, regroup , learn from mistakes and give Wigan hell on thur .
