| Of course I am sure Kay was tested Monday according to the CEO so I guessed that would suggest he was clear. You call me negative, I say realist, I consider you too acceptable of all things coming from and relating to the club.
I suppose only time will tell but how many more poor performances will the supporters put up with beyond the forum bubble.
I hope you will not be surprised if there are negative posts after tomorrow’s game if we perform how we have. I know you can try the excuse that we had players missing or that it was done for the greater good unfortunately that appears not to be a stance taken by any other club. I suppose they consider that the performance on the field outweighs any kudos from Super League hence they prefer to field the best team possible once they are clear of the two week quarantine.

So we all had a good look at Pauli Pauli tonight and saw nothing new.
I also saw Tui Lolohea look about the same size as PP. WTF?

I said the same Wollo, How much better would they be if they shed a few kilos, it’s easy at their age and in a full time professional environment, Christ if I had the frame of Pauli at his age I’d smash every body in front of me, now I’ve the frame of Lolohea at 59

Quote: Slugger McBatt "The crucial sentence for me is the reference to him refusing to wear GPS in the past. It sounds like he has a problem with GPS for reasons that are only known to him, something which the club has tolerated in the past. Dave hasn't changed his stance, it would appear. It has become compulsory, that's all.
What I recall from before the resumption is that MC commented that a couple of players are not agreeing to the paycuts that everyone else has tolerated, for the good of the club and also for the good of the game, and one would surprise everyone. It was also apparent that Fifita was one of the last ones to agree terms. Draw whatever conclusions you want from that.
Every player has a value, measured against what they bring to the club. That is why some players get away with more things than others, because they bring added value. I can't help wondering whether the club has decided that despite what he has been capable of on the pitch, he has become a luxury they can do without, particularly as what he brings on the pitch isn't quite what it was.
He is at the end of his career. He could see it out with us, but he is bound to wonder whether there is one final stint somewhere else. Somewhere hotter, or a bigger club, or closer to home. Arguably, choosing to see it out with us would be the laziest of the options and perhaps we wouldn't get the best out of him as he sees out his career, the contract in the bank.'"
When daddycool was still on social media he came on here and stated categorically that DF's delay was nothing at all to do with money?

Maybe it was the GPS thing?

| FWIW I’ve given this a lot of thought. Let me say straight away that the majority of it is pure speculation so no need to argue with me because I’m not suggesting I’m in any way certain.
First You need to look at Dave for what he is. A larger than life person, a maverick, unorthodox and emotional.
His history as a player confirms this, he was always a gamble, this bit I’m certain of. We’ve been hugely lucky with this player, we have imho had the two best seasons that I feel he has to offer as a player. I’m happy with that to be honest.
A fair few sportsman are not what most people would call stable. We all know of Dave’s off field issues, he lives like he plays, on the edge. That’s what makes him what he is.
I like him or at least I think I do but it doesn’t take much imagination to realise that he is probably a very difficult player to manage. He has a strong personality, a lot of players don’t. Due to this I always suspected it might end this way.
Personally I think Dave is making a huge error, he is a big fish at Wakefield and much loved but he probably no longer feels the same. At 31 and not the fittest I seriously doubt he will find the same status elsewhere. But I’m not him, I don’t take big risks and I’m not able to just glide through life, so if it’s what he wants who am I to complain.
Fifita as I say is a huge character, one who I suspect dominates the team both in humour and opinions. However that team is getting older and is perhaps less willing to go along with him. Just human nature, we all assume Dave is a laugh but maybe the jokes gone stale to some. This bit I must add is pure speculation.
We knew what we were getting with this lad and luckily it’s worked out well for the most part, now is the time to move on I suspect. I think we’ve seen his last performance in a Trinity shirt, I don’t see how the club can really allow him back.
We need to let him go ASAP, before what was once a very positive presence becomes an incredibly negative one. A fee would be nice but considering his attitude I can’t see many teams willing to go that far. His pay reduction will help all the same.
Also on a more mercenary note this season is dead, the only players to whom it has any meaning are the youngsters and those trying to cement a place. Realistically Fifita has nothing to motivate him until next season now and a player like him needs motivation! With the best will in the world he won’t be fit and on form until May time imho as it will be the best part of two years since he played anything like well. That’s a long break and takes him to 32. That’s a big ask for a player who’s hardly in the Gareth Ellis mould of self discipline.
So, to see TJ go will be an utter tragedy to me, I get it but it will sting. Where Dave is concerned, it’s more thanks for the memories whilst they are still mostly good ones. I wish him well in whatever he does and he will do well in his own unique way, he’s that kind of bloke.

| Good sensible post Vasty - I totally agree that he was a gamble as a signing and he far outweighed my negative expectations as I thought he'd be a liability having watched him in the NRL...tho admittedly not for many games immediately before we signed him as it seemed Sharks had decided to use him as a last resort option. He was so much better playing for us and deserved the love & respect the fans gave him.
However, he now appears to be heading the same way with us as he did the Sharks, he's not quite at the last resort stage yet but I doubt it will take long for him to get there, which is a tough pill to swallow and probably the reason most of the posts on this thread are saying thanks for the memories, time to go.

| I don't know Fifita's reasons for the GPS issue and unless he explains them we may never know.
Fifita said he loved it at the club and he socialised a lot with people like Miller in his spare time. Maybe Miller can talk him round? Dave can knock on Carter's door, say sorry, apologise to the team and we can go back to as we were. Happy days.

| Good post Vasty. He’s been great no doubt about it. Myself I’m annoyed he’s put himself and the club in this position. It’s likely this is the end for him but you never know.
Players like him always likely to come and go. They’re the custodians of the jersey for me, if they don’t want to wear it anymore then time to say goodbye.
